“peaceful....but trains”

Easy to access, nice drive in the country, 4 fire pits spaced out nicely along the canal. A few fisherman stopped by. Train came through twice and is loud. But overall peaceful. IDNR guy comes by about 10pm, not the best time to be collecting payment for the night. Is $8/night. Does include a men & women's restroom. Most sites intended for tent camping as not able to drive through grass. So our camper stayed in the parking area next to a fire pit.

At end of main road, you'll turn left instead of going under the train bridge. Easy to follow GPS coordinates in Google maps.

“Covered bridge makes it chancy or impossible to access”

Reviewed 10/1/2019

Overall Rating

Bridge was low enough that I didn’t feel comfortable trying to go under it, even with my small rig. The area feels kind of “down in a holler,” as they say in the South, but there are some cute miniature horses right up the road. Might be worth checking out for campers and van lifers.
