We would have stayed longer but the flies were horrible. Swarmed our site and covered our door. We have screens on everything and thought we had closed up tight, but woke up with our trailer full of flies. We packed up and left before it got worse.

This is the least desirable of the four BLM campgrounds here in Yakima Canyon, but the only one with spots open that hadn’t been reserved for the night or entire weekend. It’s sandwiched between a beautiful, fast-moving river which is popular with anglers, and the road, which does shed some noise when the bigger rigs roll on through. While the other BLM spots have interesting foot bridges, boat access and large parking lots or RV loops to explore, this is more or less a small gravel and sandy lot with six sites, each with a table and fire ring, tucked into the willows. It’s not terrible, but compared to Washington’s other offerings at the same price point, it’s basically like getting a motel room for the night just for a place to stay. Thus, it’s a BLMotel. Tell your friends, they’ll all be hashtagging it by Halloween.
Though we had no Verizon service whatsoever, our neighbor did have service and was chatting away for hours but when I asked him who his carrier was, he told me his life story, gave me some firewood, and we never got around to an answer.
