There are three distinct camping areas here, each with a different cost and all sites are first-come, first-serve (which I absolutely LOVE)!!
I arrived on Labor Day afternoon, and not surprisingly, the park was mostly empty. Since temps were in the 90's and I was just staying one night, I opted for the Bellamy camping area, which has gravel and level back-in sites with 50/30/20 amp hookups. There are a few water spigots spread around the area, a nicely clean shower house and a dump station is located across from the registration kiosk at the entry to the park. There was a good choice of sunny or shady sites in this area. The nightly rate in this loop is $23.
The Riverside loop offers gravel back-ins and pull throughs with water and electric for $25/night and the Lakeside area has primitive grass sites for $17 per night.
There is a beach area and trails. The Park is just a few miles south of Highway 20 and is easy to get to. Interior roads are all paved and can easily handle any sized rig.
All in all, good value here for any type of camping which suits your style.

We almost passed this by as we were looking for a place to stay on the fly for one night, but it was the Friday night of 4th of July weekend so I gave it a third look and finally read the reviews and I’m so glad I did because they were right—this place is wonderful. The ONLY reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the sites are packed in tight. But even on 4th of July weekend there is one empty site on one side of me and 4 empty on the other side. Our site is electrical only and backs up to a pretty swamp area with cattails where there are TONS of birds (red-headed woodpecker, blue jays, cardinals, red-winged blackbirds to name just a few), and last night we heard frogs and watched the fireflies. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous in the Bellamy campground area toward the end of the road. Picturesque gravel road and bike paths to explore at the end of the culdesac as well. Quick walk to a bench overlooking a lovely little lake for some early morning solitude.

Nice county park. Clean and well maintained. I live nearby so this is an easy weekend getaway for us. Lots of sites, all first come first served but have never failed to find a spot. $20 for electric and water, $18 for smaller electric only sites and $15 for primitive tent sites. No sewer hookups but free dump station. Even if you don’t camp here you can stop and dump your tanks for free. Paved walking and biking trails, swimming beach and fishing areas. Free WiFi is decent and consistent (better than most I’ve experienced). Very pet friendly. Fairly close to highway 20 for a stopover.

Looking for an easy place to stop overnight while heading west. Route 20 is mostly 4 lane and drives like an interstate. Very nice drive when the wind is not blowing. Got to the campground on a Friday evening in July, concerned we may not find a spot. Found a large recreation area and campground. Must be over 100 spots. The loop with water and electric hookups ($20 a night) was pretty busy, but still had several spots open. The loop with electric only ($18) is a little smaller and quieter. We chose that and had many spots to choose from. It had 50, 30, and 15 amp plugs, fire ring, and picnic table. Some spots shaded, some not. Several areas large enough for big rigs. So many families camping for the weekend. There is a lake with beach area, and area to fish. At the other end of the park is a small boat ramp to launch kayaks and inner tubes into Little Sioux River which flows rapidly nearby, but looking a bit muddy for my Florida taste. Definitely a surprise find when expecting a small city park. Left out the next day (checkout at 4pm) on Saturday and many sites still avaiable. Not sure if sites are reservable or not. Paid at a self-service registration station. Dump with fresh water fill up on the way out.

We found this spot while passing through and needed a place to stay for the night. The campground is beautiful! It has electrical hook ups at the sites, with separate dump and potable water stations.
