It's a bit of a drive with about 20 miles of twisting roads and a few miles of gravel just before the campground. The lake is pretty amazing as are most Sierra reservoirs but the campground is crowded and there was an issue with overflowing garbage dumpsters and camp site litter during my stay. This is due to the popularity of the campground. There is a nice sand beach at the swimming area and lots of campers just walk down to the nearest lakeshore. There was 1 or 2 bars of AT&T but the throughput is so low I kept my phone in airplane mode and only check email when I was in an area with better coverage. The "A" loop is closest to the lake. Edit: The crowds did thin out on weekdays but I was still discouraged by the overflowing garbage cans and the campsite litter. I would still return here but with lower expectations.
