After a late night drive down a long winding road where I had no internet service, we realized we needed a reservation and they would not let us pay onsite. What a pain. Drive back up the hill about half a mile for Verizon cell service. Booked online and there were plenty of sites. Big downside here is you have to book 2 nights, so I had to call for a refund of our second night since we were rolling out early in the morning. By the time we got in, it was 1015pm and there were still families enjoying their time, which meant we didn't have to feel bad about setting up and making noise.
Bathrooms very clean, shower water was warm, trash was empty, water spigot worked just fine. Zero cell service. Our site was level and at sunrise we saw the full beauty of rolling hills and a nice breeze. I can see how this would be primitive in off season but as of June 22, 2018 it was perfect.

It is sad to see all these camp grounds with facilities that are not maintained after they have been built. The toilet houses have been locked, and there are portapoties tout front, no water at the camp grounds. One complete loop was closed, and many things look lost in time with weeds growing out of the cracks. There was a working dump station and it did have water to rinse your tank. Spots can be small and limited space for your slide out. If you have a trailer longer than 24 feet take a double spot as many spots will be too short and too narrow. I found one that was missing the wooden side posts and got my slide out to extend. I stayed here for a bike race, but can get very hot in the summer and no real easy lake access so plan ahead. I think much of this camp ground was built years ago for smaller cars and smaller trailers. Some of the sites have great views, I thing spring and winter are the best months here. Green and cool.

We stayed here because my husband was running the Lake Sonoma 50 mile race. We picked this spot because it was close to the race and aid stations. We were aware that we would be dry camping but quite unhappy to find that the shower houses and bathrooms were not in service (there were port-a-johns however). There was also no water at the spigots. Not fun for runners who were depending on showers after the race. The drive going to the campground was curvy and the road going down into the campground was unexpectedly steep and curvy as well. The campground was overgrown and there were gates blocking off sections without notice. We had to back up and turn around and I saw several other people having to do the same thing. Lots of cussing from folks with bigger rigs than ours. I would NOT recommend taking anything bigger than a 21 foot-the spots just aren't big enough. Our dog also had a tick on him. Maybe this campground is better in the summer? Not sure. We just didn't expect this for being in such a nice area.
You need a code to get into the campground, don't forget it!
I liked the easy access to the trail.

Liberty Glen is a large campground, with 3 loops, multiple group sites, and easy access. Single sites are $25 per night, doubles are $50, group sites are $100.
Although frequented by boaters, there is no lake access. To enter the lake, you must leave the campground and use the dock down the hill about 2 miles.
Cell service is non-existent. To get a signal, I had to drive down the hill to the Lone Rock parking lot, about 2 miles.
The status of the water system and bathrooms has been questionable for years. Although we like to dry camp, reviewers on other sites often complain about the water situation.
Reservations are a must as you receive a gate code to enter. The sites are first-come first-served so it is not possible to know for sure where you will camp and which sites are available when you arrive. There are not a lot of big sites. I have seen large motorhomes in the double sites, but those are limited. The sites themselves are large enough, but the paved road is a little tight.
Healdsburg and its bars and restaurants is not far (perhaps 30 minutes). Another good attraction is the fish hatchery. When the lake was put in, the Army Corps built a fish hatchery and visitor's center.
