“Mediocre park close to family and Chicago”

First, you must be a Good Sam member to stay at this park. This is a membership only park, but they do allow Good Sam members if there is availability. In the past when I have tried to stay here, there was no availability. I think there was availability this time since all the amenities are closed due to COVID.

We have family in Chicago, so we tend to stop in this area often. There are very few RV parks in the Chicago area and, except for McCormick Place downtown, they are all 1-2 hours outside of Chicago.

This park is in an older part of Chicago and is a bit run down. Since it is a membership park, most of the RVs here are seasonal. Usually they have a swimming pool, a swimming lake and a fishing lake. While I believe you could still buy a fishing permit to fish, all swimming is closed. This park is located between two major expressways, so there is road noise from both expressways.

While I only have 2 bars on AT&T, the DL speed was 35Mbps and UL was 3Mbps. Verizon had 11Mbps DL and 14Mbps UL.

If you are looking for a place to stay to visit Chicago, I think the best park is the Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin. They do not have full hookups, but there is a dump on site. There is also a commuter train close by to take into Chicago. They are FCFS, but usually only fill on holiday weekends. Unfortunately our family is in the Southwest suburbs, so we tend to stay in the southwest part of Chicago.
