We ran generator to cool down and turned it off at 9pm as quiet hrs are 10-6. We were tired and fell asleep ok but woke up in a pool of sweat. Should waive quiet hrs in the summer when over 100 degrees, IMO.
Walked down to the river in the morning and over to the orchard for some fresh off the tree. Orchard caretaker was great, a lot of info from him.
Will stay again, but maybe not in the summer.

The campground is situated on a hill between the Vermilion Cliffs and the Colorado River. The setting is beautiful, but as the park ranger noted, there isn’t a single level space in the campground. So be prepared to get creative. The sites along the edges are back-in with a limited number of pull-thoughs in the lower loop and group camp sites in the middle of the upper loop.
Each site had a grill or firepit and picnic table with a ramada. No hook-ups, but there are flush toilets and a sink for dish washing. No showers at the campground, pay showers are available at the Marble Canyon lodge. Grocery up, there are limited services in Marble Canyon. The dump station is located on the hill by the staff residences.
We enjoyed playing in the river with Riley – it felt at least 15 degrees cooler there than at the campground. Must be all that 44° river water. Brrrrrr.
We had 3 bars of Verizon 4G.

We give five stars because of... the easy self-pay-mode, the very clean restrooms, the low price, the helpful host AND the amazing and peaceful surrounding.

It was a little noisy when I was there with campers pulling in, driving around and setting up late into the night.
Woke up super early and headed down to the river to watch the sunrise over the water and the cliffs. Absolutely gorgeous!! There are many hikes in the area and it is a good spot to stop on your way to the GC or other spots.

This was a nice stopover. We stayed two nights in mid-April 2018. We paid $20/night with the National Park pass. If you have the senior pass it is $10/night. No issues finding the campground and the road in was paved. There were only a few spots that would fit our rig (30’), but we didn’t have any trouble getting one. Most of the spots were a bit smaller, but there were still several to fit bigger rigs than ours. It is a self-pay system, but the rangers (or camp hosts) keep up with the campers. We did not go to the dump, but it is not at the campsite. It is at the ranger station. They did have potable water at the campsite and was in the closet next to the bathrooms. It did have a spigot so you could fill with a hose. The area is beautiful. Depending on your spot, you will have a nice view of the canyon and the Colorado River. I think we were in spot 43 and we had a great view. Internet access for AT&T was decent. One issue was we had serious trouble leveling for some reason. The spot was gravel and every time we tried to pull back on the levels, they would slip right out. We even had no-slip pads under them. We ended up switching to our block levels and they worked fine. We did notice some of the other spots were not very level either. The weather did not cooperate too much while we were there, so we ended up not being able to explore as much as we would have liked. Overall, it was a decent stay and we would camp here again despite the cost.

Flush toilets, water, friendly host & great views make it worthwhile. This is the stayover for many folks prior to their exciting Colorado rafting adventure. Check them out at the nearby river landing. Also suggest a walk to the historic Lonesome Dell Ranch up the Paria river. Lovely orchards you can pick during season.

The scenery of the river is lovely and the red rock canyon alongside the river is very photographic.
In November, when we were there, the weather was a little uncertain. We had huge black clouds heading in our direction, which made for fantastic photographs, but left us feeling a little vulnerable.
There is a nice trail along the riverside, with interesting old buildings and the old ferry still visible on the river bank.
The campsite is quite basic, but we did not feel the need for more amenities
No television and limited cell service

There were about 6 campers on a Thursday. There is a dump station about 1/4 mile down the road (only dump in winter) water was off. The Lees Ferry River Walking Tour was an easy hike. Went up about what seemed 1/4 the way of the Spencer Trail (ran out of time). The guide says that it is not maintained but it looked pretty good. Serious switchbacks with a 1700’ elevation gain right up the cliff wall. The drive by Vermillion Cliffs was nice. Would definitely stay here again and hope to have more time to go deep into the Vermillion Cliffs as well check out toward the Dam and Lake Powell.
