“Small BLM campground on the river.”

Overall Rating

This small campground is little used in a corner of Colorado that get little visitation. In other words, it's really off the grid. The road in is narrow, one lane in most places and may be rough in poor weather but certainly passable by car. At the start, there maybe a fence/gate across the road. It is a public road so if the fence/gate is closed, close it behind you.

About 3 to 4 miles back, you come to the first of two campgrounds. The first is best for small trailers and tent camping. The second where we stayed will handle up to about 35'. Our rig is 26' so no issue. We were the only one there in mid June and the last person to sign the register before us was two week earlier! There is also some dispersed camping suitable for tent along the road in. We only saw one car come in while there and they didn't stop.

There not much to do there except chill or fish. We choose chill. It was a good bird watching spot as we saw golden eagles soaring along the canyon rim above us and many desert birds you only see in the desert canyons of the southwest. Cell service? Forget about it.
