I’ve never made a negative review of a campground but feel like I should here. Yes the remarks previously are true, there are several long term run down campers with a lot of junk around, but I never saw any of these residents and our problems were not with them. I was camping with 2 friends (all of us are in our 60s). Our first negative experience was with a man I’m assuming was the maintenance man. He promptly came over to insist I didn’t know how to back into the site because my friends moved the picnic table over about 5 feet to give me a bit more room on this tight site. He did not identify himself for several minutes then just said he worked there. He did not come across as trying to be helpful or welcoming. We DID note later that we were virtually alone in the campground other than the long term residents. We were 1 of 3 campers in a campground with 40-50 spots.
The next afternoon when we returned from cades cove we thought we would take our chairs and and go sit on an empty site that had a view of the river for an hour or so before dinner. A few minutes later we noticed the unfriendly maintenance mane drive by…..not long after that a woman drove up and asked if we belonged there. We assumed she might be checking in so we asked if this was her site and we jumped up to move…. she said no and asked where we belonged we pointed to our Motorhome. She said we could not sit there because we didn’t pay for that site. After asking her she identified herself as the “general manager”…..mind you that there was absolutely no one anywhere around where we were sitting and we had no plans of sleeping there or even cooking there….but of course we got up and moved back to our little spot. Later the lady came to our site and tried to apologize because she heard me say something about customer service as she drove away. I let her know how unnecessary it was and how rudely she came across barking at us from her car ….she made several excuses trying to back it up but the damage was done …..I have worked in customer service for 30yrs. And she could have handled it in a much better way….now we knew why the campground was empty while others around us were full….
Anyway….long winded but I would avoid this one if possible….too bad too because it could be a nice little campground and is in a convenient location to Cades cove.

Bath house is older but super clean! Sites are a bit small but compared to most campgrounds it is normal. Regular sites are $50 a night, sites on River $80 plus tax. They offer small cabins for $105.
camper-751830 would stay here again

Residents have a lot of junk around their sites making it look bad. River sites do have a small balcony with a picnic table but there really is no place for a fire pit unless you want ashes all over your vehicle. Have stayed here several years ago but probably won’t stay again.

While the staff was friendly and helpful. Over half the campground is made up of permanent campsites not full timers. These sites are dirty old trailers and old Motorhomes with clutter and junk around them!

My wife and I travel full time in our RV for the last 2 years. We have stayed in MANY campgrounds all across the country, and this is the second worst.
Very narrow road with narrow sites makes for a nightmare backing in. Workers here are overly unfriendly. Service is non-existent. When I emptied my tanks, sewer came up in site #48 all over the ground. I told the office but they never cleaned it up. Next time my tanks wouldn’t drain. Worker blamed me for blocking the pipe, then discovered their tanks were full. Although they claim to be ‘dog friendly’, there is NO PLACE to bring your dog except for a small strip of grass next to the highway with no fence. Because of this, there is dog poop EVERYWHERE! Even in the road. There are permanent RV’s here with mold so bad that I can smell it 4 campsites away. They are also in terrible states of disrepair with trash all over their sites. If you don’t pay extra for a riverside site, you do not have any access to the river.
One good thing I can say is they have a great laundry room. It is open to the public but kept very clean. 9 washers ($1.50) and 10 dryers ($1.75). The area is beautiful and has many campgrounds. Stay at one of those and use this laundry room.

Con-We stopped by for just one night to visit Cade’s Cove. There are some decent sites on the stream with decks and concrete slabs but we weren’t willing to pay the asking price and the sites barely had room to extend your awning without hitting the neighbor. For $50 we got a tiny, tiny spot. It was difficult to fit out class c in without hitting the picnic table. We backed right up to some permanent dwellers with junk and a confederate flag. There seemed to be a good number of permanent campers with bunches of “stuff” giving it a trailer park feel. Not for us
