“No joke about the 5 mile dirt road, but totally worth it”

Campsite is down an extremely bumpy and dirty off road access road. We pulled our 30' TT down it after a good rain and we were concerned about getting stuck - 4WD helps. The campground was great with plenty of spots that were level. Totally scenic and quiet, and for us it was free. Worth going if you have 4WD. No so much a big 5th ... more

No so much a big 5th wheel or Class A type place, but it worked fine for the TT or perhaps a Class C. Your toy, your decision.

I feel bad even having to rate this site as anything other than 5 stars, because it is absolutely beautiful and quiet! The only problem is that my wife and I need to have a moderate cell signal for remote work, and it is essentially nonexistent (we have AT&T, and apparently Verizon is what most people have here). If we didn't need a signal, this place would have been perfect. The dirt road coming in is definitely alittle bumpy and I'm sure is worse after a recent rain, but it shouldn't be an issue for smaller RVs (fifth wheels and motorhomes won't have a good time). I called the Army Corp of Engineers office beforehand and they said they aren't collecting the $8 a night due to COVID, but other sites in the area they are!

“Paradisaic!”

Most striking place we have ever been! Campsites along a deserted semi-island. Watch out, it is a 5 miles dirt road leading to it.

There is a 5 mile dirt road coming in. We aren't afraid of getting a little dirty. It wasn't too bad but if you aren't adventurous, I wouldn't try it. We boondock 100% of the time, in a 40' Grand Design 5th wheel, and we take it off road a lot. If that's not your thing, skip this place. Cell service for both Verizon and ATT are good, with good data for both (we were also boosted). I work remotely and I was able to work fine. We chose to back down to the lake spot after walking it. But you can certainly stay in the upper lake view area too. In the peak season I wouldn't recommend coming in a large RV. We took up 2 spots. This is one of our top most epic spots, and it's only 20 miles from the Crater of Diamonds SP.
