Staff was awesome. Kids had fun. Lake was fun. Saw no gators. Caught zero fish. You can receive mail there. Fixed my fuel pump here. Close to big chain stores.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights during COVD to get away and practice social isolation while camping. No onsite check in - drive straight to our site which made things super easy. Lucky to get a spot right on the lake which I think is the best spot in the park. Large level pad with big living area right on the lake, only negative was no place for our hammock. People use this area to put in their kayaks so there was a fair amount of foot traffic during the day but that didn't bother us at all. Perfect site to people watch boats, kayaks and JetSkis. Very peaceful at night. The interior sites are closer together which could be an issue if you have noisy neighbors. Lots of trees for shade cover. We biked all along the trails to the other side of the lake and checked out the cabins which also looked very nice. We didn't have a kayak but this trip cemented our desire to get one. Bathrooms were kept fairly clean, didn't use the showers. The hosts really did a nice job keeping the sites clean and prepping for new visitors. Definitely come back here again for a getaway.

We arrived during the COVID-19 issue and did not spend much time with others in the campground. Traveled to Jekyll Island in about 45 minutes. Also checked out two Okefenokee Swamp Park entrances. The closest park is only 4 miles and is privately run. There are multiple paid tour opportunities. The National Park entrance is about 25 miles. It has a drive through tour which is interesting. National Park Passes accepted.
Most of the site in the campground have gravel pads. Some are only dirt. Gravel pads are mostly level, dirt sites may have more slope. Sites have water and 30 amp electric. Two sites are full hookup. One may be Handicap only. There are 3 or 4 pull through sites. All sites along the lake (low numbers) are good. One in the middle is pull through. The campground is generally located among tall pines and most sites have a very nice partial shade effect.
There are two bathhouses in the center of the campground. We did not use them so can report on them. One looked very new from the outside.
We used our ToGo unit cell/wifi for TV streaming. Had to buffer sometimes.
We would camp here again if it was on our route.

Even if your site isn’t on the water, you can probably see it, and/or pull your chairs into a pretty spot of setting sun and see the sun shimmer on the lake. Power, water, cell phone signal, wi-fi—everything I needed to work remotely during my brief stopover. Had a great shower with super water pressure in a very clean bath house. Enjoyed talking to the park rangers at the office —and the little “mascot kitties” they care for— and ride my bike around. Enjoyed listening to the distant trains in the night—not loud enough to be jarring at ALL. Only 13 minutes to town (and Kroger). Beautiful kayak launch—can’t wait to come back to paddle when it’s warmer. Already made my return reservations for next year—on a lake site. ;)

Quite and peaceful. If you seek excitement, go elsewhere. Park Rangers are good friendly folks. Paved roads all around, but larger (40+) rigs can be tight in some parts. Site access is generally good, and the Host are there to help. The park, like all Georgia State Parks, now lets you choose your site when you reserve it. Lake front sites (4) go quick and we try for #12. Most every site is level and fine gravel plus some are handicap with paved pads. Two bath houses are nice and clean. Use a water filter though, as with most well water in this area, it is sulfur. They do treat it with chlorine, so showering is not so bad, but it has a strange odor and taste, it is nature, not the park that controls this and not unlike city water systems along the coast. Washers and Dryers are provided. Like other campgrounds in the south, bugs, including yellow and black flies can be seasonal, and it is near the largest swamp in the South, so expect wildlife. The lake can be busy on weekends as they allow jet skis, water skiing, and power boats during certain times of the day. Weekdays are quite. The have a bark park, otherwise dogs must be leashed. Cell service is 2 bars at best, but the camp now offers free wifi at check in which worked good. Camp host are wonderful but unfortunately camp office has very little for supplies. They do sell ice, and very basic needs, but no store. Closest Walmart and city of size is Waycross about 9 miles away. Jekyll Island is an hour away. Okefenokee Swamp Park is 15 minutes away.
Summary: Great place for weekend or longer stay.

Stayed 11/23/2017 to 11/26/2017. We had bicycles with us to use for a riding nearby at Jekyll Island. Nearby means we drove half an hour to Jekyll Island. Was worth it as Jekyll is a nice tourist place, but crowded there. The Laura Walker campground was not crowded. Interesting area focused on swamp culture and business locally.

There were some nice trails to explore and the biking was easy. Waycross and Blackshear are two nearby towns in case you need supplies or get back to civilization for a few hours. We got 6 TV channels and the decent internet signals. I only mention this because it did rain a lot and we were stuck inside the coach. All in all, it is a beautiful little campground with an interesting history. We will probably be back, but will definitely try to get a spot with a lake view.

Super quiet, with birds and beautiful. sunrises. There is a small bike trail through the woods on the other side of the main road, which was fun... There is also another one that leads you to a walking bridge to cross the lake.
Cheap laundry @ .75 a load.

We were only here for one night on our way someplace else so we didn't spend much time here. This is a very nice smaller Georgia State Park on a man made lake. Five or six of the sites are directly on the lake and these are the ones you want to snag if you can (although the non waterfront sites are very nice as well.)
There is W/E at each site and they work well. There is a dump station on-site which we did not use but appeared to be easily accessible even by the largest rig.
The campsites are large and well spaced out. There is not a lot of screening between sites but they are far enough apart that privacy is not an issue.
As a State Park, there is no campground wifi. Our Verizon worked well enough for web surfing and email was but was not good enough to stream video.
There are no highways or train tracks within earshot so this place is very quiet.
This campground is a good place to use as a base to visit the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. While there is a campground on the refuge proper it's location is such that the distance to the visitor center and concessionaire who rents canoes and gives boat tours is about the same as from Laura S Walker State Park. The principal advantage of this CG vs. the refuge's CG is that there is internet here and you are closer to town for supplies.
