Site 19
Electric only

Booked this campground online. make sure to enter off Skanee Road as there is no entrance from Bayshore. The entrance road to the campground is a bit narrow. It would be too tight for two larger RVs pass each other. There is a shoulder in some areas, but it was soft and muddy. The roads throughout the campground are a combination of asphalt and gravel. Sites are back in/pull in and on grass. They are Electric only sites with potable water and a dump station. The dump station is conveniently located before you get to the actual campsites. While you can enter the dump station from both directions, there only is one dump. The potable water to fill the RV is basically at the dump. They do have the non potable water and potable water hoses labeled. Found an additional potable water spigot located across from sites 9 & 10.
Site 19 was a 50 amp site. It was not level from front to back at all. When we backed into our site to be near the fire ring, picnic table, and electrical box we needed to raise the back of the RV by 11 inches. Ended up pulling up towards the front of the sites and using natures level (humps on the ground) to help level. Due to being further forward in the site needed to use an extension cord to use the power.
Based on the rudimentary map that the park provides online I wasn’t expecting my site to be so close to others. I was expecting site 18 & 19 to be next to each other, but separated from the other sites. What I wasn’t expecting was that sites 15, 16 & 17 would be backed in facing my patio. The larger 5th wheel staying in site 18 says the campground doesn’t actually book site 17 so he had both those spots. He had to move his truck across the street so that the campers in site 16 & 15 could park in their sites. Apparently there was some mixup with site 15 being booked twice/given to 2 different families. Of course the campground was full over July 4th weekend. We ended up allowing a family (mom & dad with two young boys) to set up their tents behind our RV next to the fire ring and picnic table. They’ve been coming to this campground for 7 years and said nothing like this has ever happened before.
The campground has restrooms and showers. They were clean, but dated. There is a playground and some swings. If you take the path next to site 19 down toward the beach you will cross the road and there is a gazebo, some picnic tables and a dock. The dock is currently broken. They do sell firework for $5.00/bundle through the honor system. The campground advertises a couple of trails. Took Cathy’s pass but it was very muddy and not well maintained. They do have a large fenced in area for dogs.
Verizon signal went between LTE & 5G. There were times that it was adequate to talk, text, search internet and stream videos. Other times it would be unusable.Campground did have free wifi and it worked decently the one time I used it.
If I was in the area and chose to stay here I would choose sites 6-12 which had the best lake views. In addition, those sites looked the most level. Site 27 was all by itself at the top of the hill before going down to the rest of the campsites. Despite the map, it’s not that close to the dump station. Site 28 is also by itself. Sites 29 & 30 are in a shared little area. That would be great sites if you were camping with friends.

“Great Overnight Stay”
Reviewed 9/30/2023
VERY nice campground. The showers and bathrooms were spotless.
We were overnighting on our way to Ontonagon from Munising. This was the perfect place to stop for an overnight stay.
While there we drove to Point Abbaye. It is a long drive up a dirt road but absolutely worth it. You owe it to yourself to see this seldom used trail.

Note- sites 6-13 have awesome views out back end of site of Lake Superior that will bring great memories of sunsets for years to come. These sites are huge and I saw 38 ft fifth wheel easily get in here.
My Verizon LTE was at two bars, but what was incredible was the high quality WIFI!
Sunsets here are incredible- if you luck out you may get to see northern lights also.
Playgrounds are awesome for families with small kids. Beautiful falls to hike to within minutes drive of the campground with Silver Falls, quartzite falls, and canon falls. Many more to find in upcoming days- all easy hikes from parking.only canyon falls had people there when we visited- other falls we had all to ourselves even on late June weekend trips.
Water is hard to get in campground so be sure to fill up at disposal station where they have drinking water separated from sanitary water supply. We have a small pop up
Restroom is fantastic with brand new showers. Really love this place.

Nice little park that connects to a bunch of trails in the park. View of Lake Superior. Shower house was undergoing an addition. Great to see the sunset from your site over the bay. Our site had a decent drop off at the back

My wife and I loved this place. On this trip, we've stayed at a total of 3 sites on the Great Lakes and this was our favorite of the three.
Normally, I'd reserve 5 stars for the rarely found large site with full hook-ups (as opposed to sardine-style packing) but this place has such a nice view of the lake, and relatively easy access to the lake (short walk down a hill and across a road), that I feel like anything less than five stars would be unfair.
The grounds are well-maintained and the RV sites have electric only. Our site, 12, seemed to have an issue with at the power source. My surge suppressor reported reversed polarity. When plugged in elsewhere to test, it reported normal connections. The manager told me he'd have someone look at it on the day we left. (I didn't need it looked at urgently because we were able to run a long extension cord to an unoccupied site to get 20 amps, which was all we needed.)
Reading my own review, it seems like it should not get 5 stars, but the location was so beautiful, and the well-mowed grounds so spacious, that I'm sticking with 5.
The place was a bit hard to find, by the way. Google Maps will get you close and, once on Skanee Rd (I think), look for the medium-sized sign. There's another entrance to the park that is nothing more than a circular area that I was barely able to get out of gracefully towing a 28' trailer. Don't go there. :)
