“Pretty municipally run campground with electric and dry sites, showers, wifi and cell signal”

This is a lovely campground just outside the town of Lake Cowichan with a row of electric sites overlooking Lake Cowichan. Additional sites farther from the lake are non-electric and $9 cheaper. We camped in the loop of non-electric sites 60-66 that had decent solar exposure and still a glint of the lake through the trees. Best of all, we had the whole loop to ourselves as it was early October and what few campers were in the campground preferred the electric sites overlooking the lake.

This campground offers a $10 discount during the off-season which is before Victoria Day long weekend (mid May) and after Labour Day (early September). Hence $23 per night for dry camping. Yay! Some highway noise can be heard throughout the park as it is close to town.

Lovely clean comfort station building with really nice tiled free showers. Washrooms were heated and water was warm enough, neither were hot but it was a pass. While here, we hiked the trails around Cowichan River just east on hwy 18, beautiful trails overlooking various canyons, rapids and waterfalls. Nearby Cowichan River Provincial Park also offers dry camping for $20 but no lakeview, showers or wifi! Decent wifi at the office building here which is how I uploaded these pics and review. Haha!

Garbage and recycling dumpsters only by the day use area. Water spigots located around the park. No sanidump but that is normal – you can use the municipal dump in Lake Cowichan for free or donation.

Beautiful sandy beach with play area for kids. Too cold to swim while we were here but would be awesome in the summer! Easy to launch a boat, canoe or kayak too!
Excellent cell signal on AT&T and Bell Canada throughout the campground.
