Our first time staying at this RV park. We stayed in "A" Loop as there were more trees and it seemed more secluded than the others. They upcharge $3 per night for Thousand Trails members, for 50 amp electricity. Being winter, there were very few people in the park. We were one of only three RVs in A loop the whole two weeks we were there. The spaces are gravel, pretty level with room between campers. The site had just enough room for our 42' fifth wheel and dually pickup. Every site has a picnic table. It seems everyone picks up after their animals because we never saw any problem with that. There are no fire rings, but propane fire-pits are allowed. The employee who checked me in alluded to the future where fire rings and firewood would be allowed. The office was large and very nice with a theater room off to one side for family movie nights. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. There's an activity building further back in the park. It has clean bathrooms, games and puzzles, tons of books, an old worn out piano, and more. The laundry room was nice, 4 washing machines and 4 dryers, all $2 each. The pool and hot tub looked awesome. We were too cold and didn't want to get in swimsuits for the hot tub, but others were in there and seemed very comfortable. There are several social things planned by the office each week, even though we had other things going on and couldn't attend. Cell and streaming service worked great with our ATT hotspot. The ONLY reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the roads are badly in need of repair. We were told that the public areas like bathrooms, office, laundry, etc will be getting updates soon. Once that is done, then the road is going to be redone. They're full of potholes and just all around miserable. Also, eventually there will be no upcharge for 50 amp because all sites will have 50 amp. We will be back to this park even if the roads aren't finished yet. We loved it out there! We greatly enjoyed getting to know Wendy Fox who helped us figure out the best Thousand Trails membership package for 2023 and beyond. We wanted to upgrade from the basic package we'd had last year. A pleasant experience without a hard-sell attitude from her.

The amenities are not walking distance from campus sites. Many of the sites in B loop were closed due to electrical problems. The big pool is nice and club house had outdated items but they worked. There is an abundance of hiking trails which we liked.

Reminded us of “Dirty Dancing,” and was problably great when it was new. However, it is not aging gracefully and is in dire need of updating and maintenance. We can echo other comments on the road, which appears to have been recently used as an artillery range target. The facilities were clean, but very, very tired. We passed on several sites that were rutted so badly, they were unusable. The cover on our electrical post was falling off, but the electrical, water and sewer hookups worked fine. Maybe they need to change their business model or get outside investore, but definitely need a serious infucion of cash to upgrade to 21st century standards. We were hoping for better, and it is hard to recommend when a great State Park is less than 5 miles away.
Note: the $0 fee is because we received a free membership when we purchased our camper. I think it is around $600/yr for a membership.

When we bought our fifth wheel we were given a free membership to Thousand Trails. So in planning a three month trip, I tried to maximize our savings using the membership. That was a giant mistake and ended up rebooking most after our first two experiences with thousand trails parks.
Lake Whitney was our first Thousand Trails park. As you enter it looks nice enough, but as soon as you go through the gate after check-in you are met with pot holes everywhere, overgrown vegetation and instant regret that you booked this sorry campground.
When we were there in April, a good 40-50% of the park was inoperable due to power issues. Nearly the entirety of loop C was non-functional so we headed into loop B in hopes of finding a 50 amp site available. Spoiler alert, there were few in the entire loop and all were occupied. Many sites are overgrown and that limited our ability to find a site to accommodate our 42 ft fifth wheel. We found a site, pulled in and leveled and then found the power had an open ground thanks to our EMS. So we moved down the same road to another site and because of the overgrown trees, could not fit. Third times the charm and we ended up in B60. Because of the small sites, the vehicles from the site across from us made it tricky to get backed in, and that's a common issue throughout the park.
The playground was a joke and appears the few full timers who snagged sites in the mostly inoperable loop C allow that area to be their pet's personal bathroom. The pool was closed when we were there, but it looked to be the only thing well kept in the entire park. I believe it had been recently renovated.
The lake, Lake Whitney, is beautiful and there are a few places you can fish from the shore that are accessible from the park. The pathway leading you to the lake is just as poorly kept as the rest of the park and you'll want to be careful to not twist an ankle as you go down it. Watch for overgrown vegetation and fallen trees. A common theme elsewhere in the campground.
T-mobile service was non-existent but Verizon was workable. Zoom calls where poor quality, so if you're working on the road/doing school on the road you may have some issues with consistent cell connection.
Overall this place is awful. It needs a lot of work, from the roads to the sites and including the amenities. Free was too much to pay for this place. The only thing it was going for it is the lake itself. But I would never go back and this was just the first of what was many bad experiences with Thousand Trails properties.
Another theme with Thousand Trails. Seems to be a lot of full timers who I assume bought into different packages allowing them to stay extended periods of time. A lot of these sites are in horrid condition and it feels more like your camping in a trailer park vs visiting a nice relaxing campground.
One upside, across the street from the entrance from the park is a food trailer on some person's property. The Sweet Shoppe as it's called is open limited days/hours, but the treats were delicious and I would highly recommend a visit.

Park was free with our Thousand Trails membership — The park has great potential, however, it’s not living up to it. The roads are terrible, narrow, and tight. The potholes are awful! The sites are just as bad. Not to mention, half of the park is closed due to electricity issues, which apparently have been ongoing for a year. It took almost an hour to find a site that wasn’t closed and that we could get a 38ft bumper pull into. Also, there is no lake access unless you want to hike a few miles through the woods.

The park is nice overall. However, the road leading into the RV sites was like a never ending set of railroad tracks. The number of potholes was overwhelming and jarring for people with back issues. The RV sites were ok. There were downed trees around us and overgrowth into the actual site, which also needed some upkeep as it was eroding in the back. The other thing was on the website we requested a 50 amp space and were told our balance was zero because we have Thousand Trails and Encore. When we got there we were told after we were parked in our space there was an upgrade fee. That should be put on the site prior to arrival so we were aware. I've not had any other Thousand Trails park or Encore park ever charge me an upgrade fee before just because I needed a 50 amp space. They couldn't explain to me why they charged the upgrade fee either which I thought was odd. It's also worth noting that a lot of spaces are STILL OUT OF SERVICE. In lookin back at some of the other reviews this looks like it's been an ongoing problem for a couple of years. The Wi-Fi for a week was $14.95 and it was down more than up. I'd recommend bringing your own hotspot. What we did like was the natural beauty and the separation between guests. That was nice compared to some of the other parks where they pack you in like sardines.

Large campground with 5 miles of hiking/biking trails. Main road is full of potholes so make sure to drive slowly. We chose full hookup back-in site B65 due to the excellent tree shade. Unfortunately the site was low in the front so it was difficult to level our class A motorhome. B section bathrooms were clean. On a positive note, we were able to program 40+ over the air TV channels. Sadly our AT&T and T-Mobile phones had zero reception at the site and the AT&T phone barely got 1 bar at the lodge/laundry room area. The lodge supposedly had free wifi but we couldn't get it to work. Excellent laundry room with well maintained machines. The price was a bargain at $2.00 per load and only credit cards are accepted. Paid wifi is available but we did not try it. All amenities except the pool were closed due to Covid-19.

The property is beautiful with lots of shaded spots. Sites are large and spaced out well That is the good.
The bad:
The internet (paid) is up and down, and down more than up. We are leaving 5 days into our 14 day reservation because I cannot work with the internet 100% down all day. The WiFi equipment looks new but I guess they don't maintain it. The phone support company knew who I was by the third day here. Calls were answered but reports of "the entire loop is down" and "the entire park is down" were given to me. The system uses the power from the RV sites and I guess if someone leaves and flips that "extra" breaker in the box off they can take out a large area of the park.
50 amp sites are first come first serve. There are a lot of sites (dozens and dozens) that are out of service. To find a 50 amp site that also has sewer is on the rare side. Entire loops are out of service. The old 30 amp box was left in place with the new 50 amp box behind it, kind of an eyesore.
The roads are in horrible shape. Potholes everywhere. The 5mph speed limit is all about not breaking your vehicle. Our site (the only one with 50 amp and sewer when we got here) is so unlevel the jacks could not even us out without putting the front wheels in the air.
This is in the middle of COVID issue and everything is closed. I have been in a couple of Encore sites and they had a much more reasonable (and safe) approach to what was closed down.

They hold activities for families every now and then as well (none occurred while we were there, but we were informed about them). The biggest issue for us was the cell service, which was surprising. We had about 2-3 bars (Verizon), but it was still incredibly slow, which made it very difficult for us to work (we are full-timers). But apart from that, it was a very good experience. We'd stay here again if coming back through the area as long as we had a cell booster.
