For military personnel retired or active duty. One of the best places we have stayed! Nice big ! Swimming pool. Beautiful lake for fishing even have boats to rent if you don’t have one. Bathhouse was the cleanest well kept bathhouses. With private showers and free washer and dryers in both men and women’s restrooms. And they work lol ... more

6 miles from Rt 98, just south of Hattiesburg. Camp Shelby is in the DeSoto National Forest. Accessed campground from Rt 98 using Eastgate Rd. No check in, just call billeting and they will make sure you are good. Electric (50 amp) and water worked well. Can't beat full hookups for $15. Sites 39-56 are new, concrete pads, some pul... more
6 miles from Rt 98, just south of Hattiesburg. Camp Shelby is in the DeSoto National Forest. Accessed campground from Rt 98 using Eastgate Rd. No check in, just call billeting and they will make sure you are good. Electric (50 amp) and water worked well. Can't beat full hookups for $15. Sites 39-56 are new, concrete pads, some pull-thru, but no shade. Sites 1-38 are in a wooded area.
Campground surrounds Walker Lake, some sites overlook the lake. Must call to get a reservation, nothing online.
A small PX, excellent fitness center and the Armed Forces Museum are on the camp. Trail system is accessible from just before the new campground section. Free laundry in the restroom.
Good AT&T cell service, 4 bars of 5G. RSPR was -90 boosted to -63. Good enough for streaming without boosting.

One of the many benefits of being retired military is having access to military bases. Camp Shelby is perfect for rving. One of the many benefits of being retired military is having access to military bases. Camp Shelby is perfect for rving. They have two separate campgrounds one is an older section and one is a new section wonderfully leveled it's very peaceful and quiet lots of trees there's a concrete pad full hookups for only $15 a night and they have weekly rates. This place is so peaceful and so quiet and so well manicured I really enjoyed myself here I was able to spend eight days and just relax and decompress I have a dog with me and right out by the RV park there's a 10 mile hike through the woods where you can keep the dogs off the leash it was nice to have access to the PX and the gym. The old section has free laundry facilities as well as a free hot shower which is awesome. Again just so peaceful and quiet I really really like this place
