Lake View Campground

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake on 3/20/20 significantly moved the creek, cutting off the boat ramp.

Google maps do not show the changes.

The lower campground loop is overgrown. The loop road is now has a raised boardwalk. All picnic tables are gone.

The northern loop is now the new day use parking area with a boat ramp. Sites that were once along the water are now day use picnic sites, sans BBQs.

There is evidence of one closed campsite if you walk on the lakeview trail towards Stanley Campground.

Do not be fooled, you can still see Stanley and Lake View Campground signs listed at the road leading to the lake.

Stanley Campground is still there. All FCFS sites.

This is a Forest Service first come first serve campground with only 6 sites, so snagging one could prove challenging. We had been in the area a couple days before, and we checked out the tags at sites and saw when people were planning to leave and several looked like they were coming open about the time we would return. We scored site #6 which we thought was the best one for us - with plenty of room and a nice trail down to the lakeside! At an elevation of 6537 ft., it can be a cooler escape during the heat of the summer. The water was close to the sites and provided an amazing place to kayak with the majestic mountains towering above. I can not wait to return here someday!

​Note* - likely the site with the best wide open views is site #5, but it is a double site so the cost is double.
