We needed 2 leveling blocks to level the lake side of the trailer. Roads are asphalt and the campground and sites have nice grass. The sunset views were fantastic. Quiet at night. We were there during the week and the lake got a little busier each day with boats. Park staff at the welcome station was nice. We would stay here again if in the area. We had to use our Verizon for internet most of the day. In the AM AT&T worked but both were slow.

Paid $8 entrance fee to use water and dump station. Water at dump station was off for the winter, but potable boat wash water was nearby. Park ranger was very helpful over the phone and at the site. In early March many places had their dump stations and/or water off for the winter, so it was great to find this place.

There is a loop that is close to the lake and a loop that is up the hill. The loop that is up the hill has better cell service. Closer to the lake we wavered between 1-3ish bars and up on the top we had 2-3 bars with verizon. I think that there are 5 campers here in total - it is in the low 30's outside so that may have something to do with it ;0). I I'm imagining that this campsite will be very busy during the summer.

We stopped here on a cross country drive. It is just lovely: pretty, lakeside setting, clean, spacious and private sites, quiet. If you want peace and quiet, I cannot imagine a nicer place to stay with an RV. It is easy on/off I-90.

This is a very nice campground. There are campsites on both sides of the lake so be sure to take the Montrose exit and head south on 451st Ave to the check-in area first. This would be the west side of the lake. The dump station is also in this section of the campground. After two previous and awkward dump station experiences, this is a nice one – two stations, with two sewage islands so a total of four rigs could dump if necessary. Potable water station is between the two sewage stations so the water lines can’t get mixed up. Michigan State Parks, let me introduce you to South Dakota State Parks for an example on how dump stations should be set up.
I have only camped on the east side of the lake. The sites are large and meticulously maintained. 30/50 amp electrical hookup at each site, along with a firepit and aluminum picnic table, all in good repair. I did not check out the bathrooms.
As with other SD parks, I think the pull through sites are a poor design. My 32’ Class A could not pull in and get the tow out of the road sufficiently. A smaller rig with a tow might be able to. They work for trailers because they can back up. The sites are really no more than a wide spot on the side of the road.
I get a solid Verizon 4g with 2 bars.
There are currently 15 turkey fledglings hanging out at the very nice, playground area.
I’ve been here twice now and the hosts are present, personable, and very helpful.

Excellent lake amenities. Check in was quick and painless and there was enough room to navigate the motor home into the site. Staff keeps the sites and bath houses clean and in good working order. Plenty of shade from mature trees. Be aware this is an electric only park, which most state parks in SD are.

We opted to reserve online and it was super easy. Very well maintained, clean, only 10 min off the interstate, and extremely quiet. Granted we were the only ones in the north campground but we heard pheasants, turkeys and coyotes. Flat pull ins, nice picnic tables and fire pit. Showers weren’t yet open in mid April but they looked well kept. Nice play ground, trails and beach at a beautiful little prairie lake.

We stayed in November 2018 on a lake front site and even though it snowed that night the restrooms were heated and very clean. The hosts greeted us within minutes of our arrival. We highly recommend this camp ground!
