We got a site right in front of the playground, which made it convenient for our 5 year old to play with other kids at the park. Also, the sites closer to the family areas had more space than the ones further into the park. People there were all friendly, and the guy (I forgot to get his name) was super friendly and welcoming.

We just got back into camping recently after a few years away from the excitement. We purchased a Thousand Trails Zone Pass to encourage us to get out more often.
We picked this Thousand Trails as it is relatively close and the reviews seemed pretty consistent. Arrival was pretty confusing as we got an email prior to arrival telling if we checked in online, we could go directly to a spot and advise via a link in the email as to the spot selected. Seemed pretty slick. I pre-registered and printed out my confirmation for my dash. Unfortunately, there was not way to get into the park without stopping at the front desk as the Ranger station was coned off. I mentioned that I had done the online checkin and the front desk person advised that they did not know why TT did that as everyone had to check in with them.
I found a nice shaded spot and set up camp.
The park was acceptable. The roads are pretty rough and the a number of the common areas are closed due to COVID-19. The restrooms and bathhouses we went in were in need of repair. They were usable but definitely need updating and refreshing.
Lake access is though a gate that is open from something like 7AM - 10PM. There is a picnic area, a boat launch and a 'beach' for lack of a better term. We rode our bikes down to these locations and I think saw one other person on each of our journeys to the lake.
Although it was hot, the shade made it very pleasant especially in the evenings. There were quite a number of campsites that were coned off so I'd assume they were out of order for some reason or another. I'd guess the park was about 70% or greater capacity of campsites that were open for use. That said, it was extremely quite at all parts of the day.
We'd come back now that our expectations have been grounded. We'll also try the other Thousand Trails parks in the DFW vacinity.

Just finished our 3rd weekend of camping. Each time has been our new favorite. Hopefully we keep going like that. :)
We arrived on Thursday a little before 5. No issues with check in but we were disappointed to find out that we couldn’t have visitors. We were planning to have my inlaws over for lunch. But we totally understood considering the current situation.
A lot of stuff was closed but the pools were open. We did go to the pool one day and it was nice. I went on one section of a hiking trail. It had rained most of the night before but the trail was still easy to use and not very muddy.
We went across the border to a casino for a couple of hours. We stopped for a drink and snack on our way back at Pelican’s Landing. Nice view of the lake from there.
Back at the park we followed a sign directing us to the beach. Not sure what we expected but basically there was a small section where you could get in the water.
We will definitely be back. We may try to get both sets of parents to rent cabins. I want to try pickleball when everything reopens and we would also play mini golf.
Cell service was spotty for TMobile and Verizon.

They let us stay here for almost the entire “stay at home” time frame. Only cost is $3/night for premium site. We have great appreciation to TT for this. T-Mobile signal was awful.

Pool was usable. Cheap laundry. Weekend only onsite cafeteria. 1) Do plan to visit the HAGERMAN NWR area nearby which has great places for bird watching and a great gift shop, education center. 2) Also visit the TISHIMINGO. OK historic capital town of the Chickasaw Tribe not too far away. 3) Finally be sure to visit MUENSTER, TX German town for their festivals when in season. 4) don't miss the PELICAN LANDING restaurant only a mile away at the Cedar Creak marina. 5) also visit the new MEGA STAR CASINO that just opened maybe three months ago on the state line in OK.

The kids loved the playground and pools. It’s a little jaunt down to the lake (bike or drive) and watch out for spiders. They are everywhere! Coming from MN were not used to the big ones we saw!! Haha We had four that made their webs on our camper and wanted to hitch a ride.
The staff and other campers were friendly and our boys didn’t want to leave. We would definitely stay here again.

The campground is situated on the south side of the lake, and you can access the lake directly from the campground. The campground is in a heavily wooded area which provides some very nice shade to almost all campsites. Unfortunately, there was a significant problem with the park’s electrical system which put the family pool and clubhouse as well as all WiFi out of service. There is a nice adult clubhouse with large covered porches on three sides, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Pretty typical for a Thousand Trails membership campground - dated and in need of updates/maintenance. Bathrooms are just ok but acceptable. Seems like there's a lot of permanent/long-term residents but still plenty of open sites available. At the time of this writing one of the swimming pools looked like a filthy swamp, although that could be due to a temporary power outage in some areas of the park. Easy lake access if you have a boat. And the mosquitoes are brutal so bring bug spray!
Location: the park is situated in a pretty rural area so there's not much dining or shopping around (the nearest Walmart is 30 miles away). But it's pretty peaceful if you're looking to get away from the busyness of urban life. And to my surprise cell signal (Verizon) was pretty good for as rural as this place is.
Also, if you're a beer or wine drinker, Grayson county is a mixed wet/dry county so you're not going to find anything in Gordonville. But if you cross the Oklahoma state line (go north on 377 for roughly 5 miles), 1-2 miles after crossing the state line there's a convenience store on the left that sells beer.
