It's kind of a long drive to get there when coming from hw101 but it is worth it.
We spent 2 nights there at the Lynch area campground, all by ourselves and we enjoyed it a lot.
A little bit pricey for the season, 50$ /night + 2$ for pet for electrical hookup , anyway less expensive than campgrounds around San Luis Obispo! And it's a 1hr drive to get to San Luis Obispo!

If you ever wanted to visit a ghost campground this is it! This place was once a thriving resort until CA State Parks took it over about 8 years ago from Monterey County and started letting the water out for farmers down in SLO. The lake is drying up so it’s like everyone packed up and left. On the brighter side this place is a Mtn bikers paradise. There are wonderful trails all over which the State is ignoring. The scenery is beautiful, rolling hills, huge oak trees.
Most of the sites have electrical, the water is non potable at this point as it doesn’t get enough use thru the pipes. Bring your own water.
I give CA state Parks one ⭐️ For their lack of interest in this park. Forget about the lake, there’s lots more to the park than the lake!
Cell service is spotty unless you are at the top of a hill.
It does take effort to get here, it’s off the beaten path. Plan to stay a couple of days.
Hammer would stay here again
