“Not my favorite camping”

Reviewed Sep 03, 2018

Overall Rating

We arrived to find our power wasn't working. After having a hard time reaching someone - number on reservation was disconnected - we got security. Dave, a kind previous camp host got roped into helping us. Two hours later we had power of some kind but not secure. They worked on it again the next day. Agree with other review, they spend their resources on the commercialized water park and restaurants.

I will say this - Lisa, our server at Landshark Bar and Grill was great! Went two nights. Service good and food good. Had an amazing view of the fireworks thou we did have to pay $10.75 each to see them and the live music. We felt the experience that night was worth the fee.

Loved hiking the Bluford Dam and visiting the local breweries like Sweetwater, Jekyll, and GateCity. Downtown Roswell GA is cool and loved shopping at the local REI stores - especially the one near Atlanta.

Don't think we will come back camping but overall area has some treats to offer you.

“Terrible campground”

Reviewed Jun 26, 2017

Overall Rating

Interesting thing about Lake Lanier Islands is that the major part of the overall complex (waterpark, landscaping, sculptures, etc.) are all extremely nice. Then you get to the campground. The campground road is broken and cracking and my travel trailer kept sliding off the road. We reserved 2 sites for us and another family, and when I got there I tried to pull our trailer into both sites. They were so uneven and not even remotely level, not to mention that there was a large dropoff heading toward the lake which was extremely close to our trailer tires. If one of my tires had gone off the edge the whole rig would have ended up in the lake. We quickly realized that neither of our rigs were going to fit in the two spaces we had reserved, so we bagged the whole trip and went home (a 2+ hour drive). Only saving grace was that when I called they gave us our money back on the sites, so lesson learned. There are far better COE campgrounds on Lanier that are amazing, no need to try this one!
