We stayed one night on our long road trip and it was a great place to stop. The pool was comfortable and great for the kids. They had pool toys for everyone to enjoy. The lake was beautiful and relaxing. Showers and bathrooms were clean. Like others the WiFi was not that strong but still worked.

We stayed here for a week in March 2023 to visit Savannah, which is a 30-minute drive away. The campground is adjacent to Sergeant Jasper Park and Jasper Lake, which occupy the 1-mile distance between the campground and I-95. The entrance to the campground is marked by a sign on Red Dam Road: those towing large RVs will find it easier to come in from the southern end and make the left turn into the campground. The office, which sells ice, firewood, and some souvenirs, is located on the right as soon as you enter the campground. You’ll be provided with a map and the code for opening the entrance gate, which is left open during the day but closes when the office is closed.
The campground is comprised of three loops with asphalt roads. The smallest loop is a standard camping loop with back-in sites along the outside of the loop, with gravel or dirt pads, grass lawns, and concrete patios. The two other loops are much wider, with similar back-in sites along the outside but also pull-through sites that branch out from a gravel road that cuts through the middle of the interior area of the loop, which is slightly higher than the surrounding road. The pull-throughs have gravel pads, larger paver-stone patios with a picnic table, fire rings surrounded by a seashell-covered surface, and ground covered in pine needle landscaping (I noticed in older review pictures that these sites used to have grass lawns; it was unclear if they’re trying to regrow grass under those pine needles). We were in site 23, the first right-hand pull-through site on the Crescent Moon loop, which made for a sharp but doable turn. Apparently management felt that the turns into these sites were too tight as well, because during our stay landscapers went through our loop and added gravel to widen the entrances to each site. The pull-through sites do slope down at the front of the site to rejoin the loop road, so you’ll likely end up unhooking nearer the back end of the site. None of the pull-through sites have any shade trees.
Most of the amenities are located at the end of the main campground road, next to the lake and near where the three loops meet. The swimming pool area is flanked by the bathhouse on one side and the laundry building on the other, which has machines that take credit cards and has a soda vending machine on the front porch facing the campground. On the lake side of these buildings is a small gathering area with a fire pit and a covered patio-style dock that extends about ten feet over the lake. There is also a horseshoe pit next the laundry building.
The campground has one large dog park in the northeast corner of the park, accessible via a gravel path between sites 76 and 77. Be aware that the dog park shares a fence line with private property containing chickens that apparently can get into the park under the fence somehow: our dog almost caught one. There are other open areas where you can walk your dog if the dog park is busy, such as near the office or along the pathway between the lake and the back-in campsites on the lake side of the Crescent Moon loop. There is also a path located between sites 14 and 31 that leads to a trailhead for Sergeant Jasper Park.
Both our Verizon and AT&T cell service were terrible during the weekend we arrived, and the campground WiFi wasn’t any better. But the Verizon bandwidth improved when the work week started. After that, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was 64 Mbps down and 4 up, enough to work during the day and stream video during the evenings. The speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 12 Mbps down and 4 up. I never retested the campground WiFi. Our site did have cable TV, with about 75 channels, which came in handy that first weekend.
We would stay here again if we were in the area.

The sites are spacious, roads are wide and easily navigated with our 40 ft Fiver. The pool was tended daily and very well kept. We enjoyed our walks on the trails nearby and a late morning swim every day. Walmart, Publix and Ace Hardware just down the road. Though we didn’t do the touristy stuff, this park is located near both Savanna and HIlton Head.

The pool was clean, hiking trails around the lake were beautiful, and everything was quiet and serene at night. Camp provided internet was fast enough for my husband to work and get on video calls. We plan to come back next year for sure!

Beady yo get to right off I95 Exit 8 in Hardeeville SC. Not all that far for a base camp to Savannah, Hilton Head and other nearby places. Good Wi-Fi, cable TV. We travel to Florida from the northeast every year. Usually we start back from central Florida. This campground is an easy one day drive from there. We’ll be staying here again in the future.
