Beautiful park, swimming, great clean facilities (air conditioned bathrooms!), and amazing primitive campsites on the lake. Really nice people at the park entrance too. Great trails and swimming holes if you go for a wander. We saw lots of deer at the campsite and an armadillo! Highly recommend!

Lake Guntersville State Park is a large campground situated on the banks of Lake Guntersville. Pretty much every site in the campground has some kind of water view.
The amenities were nice with a camp store, ball courts, play grounds, and a swim beach. There are also cabins strategically placed throughout the campground, they appeared to be new.
A tornado in 2011 took out most of the parks trees, so you are usually going to be in the sun. However, they have planted more, so there is every reason to believe that will get better over time.
The bath houses were large and very clean. They were also conditioned and had private shower stalls with doors and plenty of hot water.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Outside the campground, but still inside the park, there is a lodge with a restaurant, chalets, cabins, hiking trails, and zip lines. There are also large amounts of wildlife all throughout the park, easily seen.
The only reason this park does not get 5 stars from me is the fact that most sites are not paved and many are not level. Some are too close together as well, otherwise it is an ace.

(The one exception is our site had cigarette butts in the firepit.) In most of the sites, there are full hookups. Maintenance staff was visible all the time and the front desk staff was excellent! We used the bath houses and they were very adequate (although older): large showers, clean, plenty of toilet stalls. There were multiple bath houses so there were plenty of facilities to accommodate this large CG. There are plenty of activities while staying at this CG: beaches, boat rentals, fishing, zip lining, golfing, hiking. We would definitely stay here again.

This was a nice site overlooking the lake. There was no shade at anytime of the day. Nice clean bathrooms. The site was very level. Probably would choose a site further up the hill with some shade next time.

Nice campground in the middle of the state park next to lake. Quiet at night. Lots to do. Would def come back here.
Some of the picnic benches were in need of replacement or repair.

We had to move spots because the previous campers 5th wheel lost power inside and they could not raise the stabilizers, and had to leave it until a repairman can come fix it. We still got a great lakeside spot with an amazing view.
This is a great park with lots of wildlife to see between the deer and bald eagles. It does have full hookups on most sites, but also has primitive camping sites if that's what you prefer. We've had no concerns with the two bars of verizon cell coverage here. For a winter time camp spot, it's definitely cooler than Florida, but it's much warmer than Tennessee and other places north, so we will take this as a win!! Also, the campground is not crowded at all this time of year.

The campground itself is well kept and the lakeside spots are nice although some of the gravel pads are not that large. Was a little noisy at night on the weekends but that is somewhat expected. Although there isn't an actual launch you can easily put in a kayak from pretty much anyway in the campground.
Can't remember the speeds, but with my Peplink ATT was a little on the slow side and TMobile was pretty good speeds.
Overall really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay. Had a lakefront site in the E loop- not much shade but still nice with moderate temperatures in early October. Plenty to do here, tons of families having fun. Groceries, restaurants, & gas nearby.
