We almost walked in as we reserved a one night stay at the last minute (20 min before arrival) and that's maybe why we got a very average site. The only good point is the location as you can walk out directly to Lake George City.

Very nice, wooded campground. Sites are a bit close together in some areas but still very nice. Dry camping/no hookups and you would have trouble getting solar to charge your batteries (nice huge trees).

Nice you can exit the back of the CG and get to the state park picnic area and large grass park. Right across the road is a dog beach. Easy walking to town.
Free wood.
Nice bathrooms and showers.
New visitor center out the back of the CG past the dump station. Only one dump.
Million dollar beach was closed probably opening Memorial Day.
Charge at CG was $5 more for out of state people.
Had to show rabies certificate for our two puppies.

This park has exactly two things going for it: 1) it’s super close to the village of Lake George. We walked to everything. Traffic and parking looked to be a nightmare in town. 2) it’s probably the cheapest place to stay on the south end of Lake George. Otherwise this is a pretty mediocre state park. There are very few RV sites and some with tight back-ins. The sites vary in size but most are small and close together. We stayed in site 34, which was a nice width, but not deep enough for the trailer and truck. 46 looked to be the best site for an RV. Arrive with full water tanks if possible. They have water around camp but no way to hook up a hose and the dump station spout is very suspect. The dump station also was closed due to over flowing by 10:30 AM on our Monday checkout. We went 10 miles south on 87 and paid $8 to dump at Moreau Lake State Park.
They are not very happy with people arriving after 9pm. We arrived at 11pm due to bad traffic and were promptly scolded. Sites are super tight to back into and are even tighter with cars parked close to camp roads. This was Friday of a holiday weekend, so this may not be normal. We ultimately just pulled straight into our site and then backed in the following morning. We asked a few cars to move temporarily so we could get backed in. Everyone was super nice and happy to help. Bathroom and showers were clean and front desk staff was super nice. AT&T signal was strong. Camped with a 29’ trail trailer.
If you want a campground close to town and to experience all Lake George has to offer, then this is a great campground. This was our goal and we had a awesome time shopping in the village, rented a pontoon boat, road the steam boat, wine tasting for adults, arcade for kids, touring the fort, and visiting the local museum.

It’s located directly across from the Lake George Battleground - a beautiful park with lots of French American war history. It’s also walking distance to the water and village. If you’re looking for a no frills spot to park your camper and tour the area, this works fine. If you want amenities like pools, playgrounds, etc. then one of the private resort type campgrounds is a better choice.

The campground address is 2224 US-9, Lake George, NY. If you follow the gps coordinates posted in the directions it will take you to the backside of the campground which is on a different road and it was confusing.
