We were heading north on FL 19 and decided to check out campgrounds along the way for future reference. Delancy was probably about 7 miles off the highway. It had rained hard for several days before our trip and the dirt road was full of potholes but passable. It looked like it was probably, usually maintained. The 30 sites were over half full on New Year’s Eve by noon. The sites are small, mostly shaded and close together in clusters of 4-8 sites. Nice if you are group camping, not so much if you want some privacy. That is the main reason we would not choose to revisit this place. The vault toilet looked fairly new. There did not seem to be much, if any, lake access as the “shore” was swampy and had a lot of vegetation. I did not see any potable water source. The largest RV’s were about 25 ft. There seemed to be tables and fire rings at most sites. Bear proof trash receptacles were available at the toilet location. I didn’t see any at the individual sites.
Although ATV’s, motorbikes, and horses are prohibited in the campground, next door there was a large contingent of ATV’s and operators. This forest had many crisscrossing roads that are probably quite desirable for that activity.
