We loved this forested campground which is set alongside the Entiat River 28 miles upriver from the town of Entiat. The campground road drops down from the paved Entiat River Road with sites mostly on the riverside as it descends. At the bottom is a small loop with a couple more sites and a fork to a second loop set up on a bench above the river. In total there are 18 sites, all first-come first-serve. The listed price above reflects the use of our annual senior pass.
Arriving on a Monday, there was only one other party in the campground. I’m sure it’s much busier on the weekends. Being early August we had hot days and comfortable nights. We had no Verizon signal, OTA TV reception or satellite TV signal due to trees and nearby mountains.
The sites have picnic tables and fire pits with grates, no hookups are available. The campground road and site pads are paved. The river can be heard throughout the campground. Most sites are well separated and have a peekaboo view of the river. The campsites can easily handle small and medium size rigs. Big rigs would struggle with tight loops and somewhat narrow pads which are surrounded by large rocks. The forest service lists the maximum trailer size as 25 feet. The campground has vault toilets and bear proof trash bins.
Two miles upriver from Lake Creek campground is Silver Falls guard station and campground. Firewood is available for sale at the guard station. There is also a short 0.7 mile but steep hike to Silver Falls. Day use fees or a US annual Forest Pass is needed for parking here. Eight miles further is the road end, campground and trailhead for the Entiat River Trail. Passes required here as well. The trail is mixed use (OHVs, horses, bikers, hikers) until the wilderness boundary then hiker only for miles to the Entiat River’s headwaters.
sjp would stay here again
