We stayed for the weekend and hike table peak. Great space for corn hole and football tosses. Would do again. Lake looked a bit green and mossy. The site had lots of mosquitoes which came from the lake.

This small campground worked for a nice family July 4th gathering. There are only 8 sites and it is closed in the winter. We reserved site 4 online and got there early to hold sites 5 and 6. There is no on site host, but they drive through regularly to sell firewood and keep the place clean. At the end of the campground is Jackson Lake, a small snow melt lake perfect for paddleboarding and splashing around, or fishing for trout (and goldfish?).
Pros:
Easy escape from LA
6000' in elevation so it wasn't as hot as the valleys
Walkable to the lake (it costs $5 to park in the lake lot and you have to buy the pass in Wrightwood)
Shady places to picnic by the lake
Large sites with lots of space away from your neighbors
Picnic table, bear box, fire ring at each site
Clean pit toilets, potable water spigots, trash dumpster to share
Shady oak trees with enough sunshine for the solar panels to work
Easy to back into sites
No cell phone access at all. This was a pro for us since it kept everyone off their phones for the weekend, but obviously would not work for someone trying to work.
Wrightwood is a small town about 10 miles from the campground, perfect for ice and ice cream runs and cell phone reception if you need it.
Dog friendly
The kids loved it
Cons:
The neighboring Lions lodge sang religious songs loudly until nearly midnight
County road noise wasn't terrible, but you can hear the local traffic
Single width sites made it hard to sit under the awning
The lake would not be as nice in drier years
The lake is really small, more of a very large swimming pool
Not quite dark enough for awesome star viewing
Overall: Site 6 is the best site if towing a trailer of any length. It is nicely shaded during the day and the table and fire ring are on a small knoll with a nice breeze.
The other sites were pretty nice, but not as long.
Site 5 is nice and level but right by the toilets with about a 35'.
The worst site is 8 with no shade, although it does have a small view of the lake.
