Lake Alma State Park Campground

Good things: Lots of sites available, nice walk by the lake and pretty area in general. Bad things: hard to pull in many sites due to single lane camp road with sites perpendicular to tiny road, no representative on site to pay (have to sign up on Ohio's state website, with minimal phone connection), no turnaround for long rigs at end of camproad.

Pretty Little Lake Alma, nestled in a rural area of Ohio. Surprised me to find full hookup sites. The campground was well kept. Tall old trees, very beautiful forest. There are some short hiking trails with steep up and down hill climbs, but very pretty. The bathrooms in the campground were unisex and smelled horrible! I think they were pit toilets from the smell, but I didn't get close enough to find out. I didn't see any shower house. There are kayak or canoe rentals at the Lake, but chained up and no one was at the check in station to rent them from. I called and left a message that I'd like to rent one, no one ever called me back. Quite a few local folks camping there, seemed polite and helped us find some firewood. I recommend the mexican restaurant in town to eat at. Buffet at lunch, clean, good staff.
