Lacey Keosauqua State Park

We arrived week day late April, easy access, easy back in site. This is a very quiet and peaceful campground. We had a beautiful hike down to a pond, many ephemerals in bloom in the woods. The next day we stopped at the river and had another nice hike along the Des Moines river.
Would recommend this campground, at least in the mid spring season as it was beautiful

This is a great state park in South-East Iowa. Being new to Iowa, we were looking for a nice quiet getaway within a couple of hours of home. We have found that spot. Lacey Keosauqua State park is well maintained. Each camping spot has lots of room so you feel like you have space and you’re not sitting on top of your neighbor. It’s quiet, has lots to do (hiking trails, a great beach area and boat landing, playground for the kids). The restrooms look to be fairly new and very clean with showers. I didn’t use them because that’s why I bought a camper - but from my observation as I used them to wash my hands after using the dump station, they look really clean. Dump station is on site and there’s multiple sites with full hookups as well as others with just electric. There is a place to fill up water if you don’t have a site with full hookups.

The camp hosts are very friendly and the DNR is present which I think helps with keeping it quiet. The property is well maintained. I can’t say enough about the park. There is a main road that runs by the campsites. Locals appear to use it to cut across to their destinations so at night you do get some headlights shining in your windows and a few idiots who like having loud mufflers - but it wasn’t enough to ruin our peaceful experience.

We camped at site 6 which is along the main road I talked about. For future visits we want to snag sites 49 or 51 as the are pull through and with full hookups and views into the forest. Also they are a ways away from the main road. But again, site 6 wasn’t bad either. I just like full hookups and less traffic.

The park is actually Lacey Keosauqua State Park. The campground is lovely. We were in the driveway area just as you enter in site 5. It was very unlevel for our big rig but the smaller rigs around were fine. The two loop sections, sites starting from around site 8 are more level. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The camp hosts are fantastic and they sell firewood all day.
