Great first Dry camp experience in 40 years. The LaPosa LTVA areas are great! We decided to stay at La Posa south because they have a convenient dump station, water available (if you want salty water), garbage bins and porta potties. We actually didn't use much of the amenities, but our friends did. This place is HUGE, and even though there were a LOT of people here because of the Quartzsite RV rally, we still had our own semi-private area that was pretty quiet. We were right near the wash so there were a lot of coyote activity at night which we don't mind; it's actually pretty cool to listen to them. We saw them near the wash and around our rig just looking for scraps.
This area is very well maintained, with very pleasant park rangers. It's an LTVA area, so they charge $40/2 weeks or $180 for 6 months. I believe this makes it a bit more secure if you're looking for that. People saw the potable water here is very salty, so we filled up before we came to the area, so I can't comment on that. They have 2-4 very large garbage bins that are easy access, and potties spaced in several areas so people don't have to go in the weeds. This helps a LOT! There is also a clothing optional section at the Magic Circle if you're interested in joining them, but I'm not that brave. There are a good amount of pre-made 'lots' that are rocked off for a little more privacy, but the best ones are near the back. We enjoyed the area to the back left the most, as it seemed more private with taller bushes, so we will go there next time we stop here.
This area is very dusty if it hasn't rained, and very muddy by the washes if it does, so the park ranger told us to stay clear of the wash if it rains.. This is pretty much common sense once you boondock in washes several times. :-) There are quads and dirt bikes everywhere too, and people don't pay attention to the 15mph speed limit, so this is why it's so dirty/dusty. If you're off the main road you won't get as much of this, but still expect to clean your rig when you leave. For us that is expected when we boondock in beautiful places, so we just pay the 'cleaning' price. :-)
I would definitely recommend this place for anybody who is looking for some free-ish camping without staring into someone elses campers.

I knew I wanted to come to Quartzsite, but really was not sure what area I would want to go to. A youtuber I follow, "Living Free", had been staying in La Posa South already for a couple of months or so. He was posting videos about the area fairly regularly. So, I decided this was the place I wanted to go. I've been here since 11/11, and plan to remain at least to mid February. The area is beautiful. Everyone I've met is really friendly. Quartzsite is a nice little town with pretty much everything you need. I've been able to get my groceries, RV accessories and parts, solar addons and accessories, tools, etc. Except for the fuels stations the businesses are all mom and pop, privately owned type businesses. The owners and staff of every business I've go to have been friendly and helpful. So far, I've been able to purchase pretty much anything I need right in Quartzsite. You can have packages shipped to "Quiet Times" in Quartzsite. That's been handy for a few things I wanted to order off Amazon. Silly Al's Pizza has great pizza, and great service. There are at least two laundromat. The weather has been mostly moderate so far. I enjoy being able to take some nice walks around here. This location has potable water, a dump station, and trash bens. So that's really handy. There are also a few restrooms.

The magic circle area of La Posa South LTVA is the clothing optional section of this BLM property. My wife and I stayed there for about a week in Mar of 2019. We found ourselves a really nice spot near a dry river bed, close to a group of other campers. As is the norm, we found the other nudists campers to be quite friendly and we were quickly invited to the daily happy hour, BBQ's, etc. We made friends from all over the country during our stay. There is a really nice hiking trail around the clothing optional area that is approx. 2.7 miles long that be hiked nude, as nature intended. We love our desert visits and this area is really nice. There were lots of flowers in bloom this time of the year and the sunsets and stars at night were great.
We found AT&T data access to work quite well out here. We were able to do work related video conf calls as well as stream some movies. We were also able to pick up a Phoenix based NBC station using our roof antenna, so that was nice for catching up on the morning news.
We did not have a tow vehicle with us, so we had to head up to the water and sewer station after about 4 days to fill up, etc. Seemed like a few miles to get up to where the water and dump station was. Next year we hope to have a tow vehicle with us so we can stay put longer.
The weather was great down there in Mar and we hope to stay longer next year. For any open minded folks that want to enjoy the great benefits of nude camping and hiking we highly recommend the magic circle section of La Posa South. We met some really nice retirees this year and hope to meet even more working folks our age next year when down. It was so nice to start summer a bit early while things are still wet and wild in the NW!
Be glad to answer any questions folks have on the area.

It is like an RVers right of passage :) We arrived at La Posa South LTVA in the midst of the government shut down so there was no one present to collect our fees. Normally it would have been $40 for 14 days or $180 for a season pass. We arrived and the city was taking care of trash collection and there were a sewer dump and water fill facilities. There was also vault restrooms which were amazingly clean. Kudos to whoever was taking care of that. This place is great and met all of our expectations. It is flat, easy to navigate, beautiful and everyone is so friendly. You truly felt like you were in a big awesome neighborhood! People waved at you as you passed by and greeted you when you parked and walked about. The rocks are amazing along with the epic sunrises and sunsets. You are far enough from town and the interstate that it is very quiet and there is plenty of room to stretch out and establish your camp. It is just a short drive to town where there is filtered water for purchase, stores, restaurants and of course endless vendors and swap meets. We were able to keep our water tank full, eat out, find things to do and also the local RV parts dealerships helped when we had repair needs. We traveled to Walmart in Parker which was a nice drive to do major grocery shopping. We loved Quartzsite and will definitely be back next year!

La Posa South is the only area in Quartzsite with water and a dump station so it's usually a bit busier than the other areas. It's amazing! You just drive around the desert until you find a place that you want to park! I suggest getting off of the main road so it is less dusty. If you go to the back, you will come upon the magic circle. It's clearly marked. If you haven't heard of the magic circle, it's the area where you may find nude campers. Stay on the north side of the main road and you won't run into the magic circle. Also, we had zero cell signal. This place is popular if you need water and a dump but it's inconvenient if you need signal for internet or Netflix viewing! The desert is beautiful and the sunsets are worth it. I'm not sure how I feel about Quartzsite. It's a very different type of town.

$140 for the season or $40 for 14 days.
Close access to Quartzsite 5 +/- miles. Water and trailer dump. Lots of room, pick a spot with others or a quieter site on the east periphery. One paid pass allows acces to all BLM sites in area.

In January 2015 we stayed at La Posa South with a group of a dozen other RVs during the Quartzsite RV show. It was our first time boondocking so having a water station, dump station, and trash dumpsters was a nice "safety net" for us. Pros: lots of flat open space to choose from, and even during the big RV show we had plenty of room around us and didn't feel crowded. Great views, great sunsets, and a short drive to town. 8 water filling stations means there's not much of a wait to fill your tank. Cons: lots of dust whenever someone drives by, the ground is all large gravel/rocks which was hard on our dogs' paws, and there are only two sewer dumps to handle the thousands of RVers during the RV show which means you could wait in line for hours to dump. It's $40 for up to two weeks, and we were there for 4 nights, thus our $10/night calculated rate. Since then we've stayed in free boondocking areas near Quartzsite and no longer see a reason to pay for LTVA camping for a week or two stay.
