Overview of La Posa North LTVA
A recreation permit is required at La Posa North Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) September 15th - April 15th. A long term LTVA permit is $180 for the entire season. A short visit LTVA permit is $40 for 14 consecutive days from date of purchase. Camping is allowed during the off-season between April 16th - September 14th for $15 per night, standard 14-day limit for dispersed camping on BLM land applies.

Can I just arrive in the afternoon and camp one night free without contacting anyone? Just traveling through.

If you’re camping here do not buy your permit online. You pay more, and need to present a printed copy at Tysons Wash (1.5 miles south of the north entrance). If you don’t arrive during business hours to get your permit (9am-4pm) you’ll need to return next day to get it. (We arrived at 4:02 and they turned us away). Verizon 4g signal... more

We stopped here towards the end of February 2022. There were still quite a few people here but not as many as I expected. It was easy to find a site without crowding anyone. You have to purchase either a season pass or a 14 day pass which is good for most of the Ltva’s in Az. We had a 14 day pass from a different area so we did not have to pay anything.
No highway noise, quiet, good enough cell service to stream, great place! Close to town and pretty mountains but rocky. Even sites. Water and dump stations available without much wait this time of the season. Trash dumpsters located near entrance. We will definitely stay here again!

Overall Rating
Spacious, quiet, cell coverage is not that great, close to town, and natural habitat. Come here every year! Update December 2021: we signed up for a local internet provider so we are now able to do whatever streaming we like.
