“Best sunset in Texas”

The road to La Clocha is manageable in an SUV if you go slowly. Our xterra made it back there in one piece. The site is on a big, open bluff overlooking Mexico and the Rio Grande River. The views are unparalleled but it does leave you exposed to wind and sun. The site has a bear box as its only amenity. La Clocha 2 is down a hill and out of site, though we noticed that its occupants often climb the hills to see the view themselves so you don’t have total privacy. That site has easier access to the river although you can access it from this site too. This site is about 20 minutes from Rio Grande Village, making it a good option for a secluded site that will still be accessible to hiking, ranger programs and the village store. We would definitely stay here again for the sunsets.
