Our first time at koreshan as campers though we have been there many times.
Our site was in a very nice location but the sand was horrendous. I was constantly dusting and sweeping. Not all sites has this issue.
There was plenty to do even on the hottest of days.
The sites were small and some looked difficult to get into depending on the size of the rig.
The restroom facility was old but clean. Only one available for 60 something sites.
Laundry and snacks available.

We enjoyed everything Koreshan had to offer. The Settlement was so interesting and the River Trail was a beautiful bamboo filled 20 min, short walk.
Our site (30) had a VERY LARGE root system running thru it. We were able to back over it and position ourselves over top of it, but there were still many tripping hazards thruout the south side of the site.
It looks like the electric pedestals are new, but a lot of the privacy foliage at that area was missing. So? If ur neighbour doesn’t drive well into the site next door, they would be placing their chairs directly in ur line of vision as their rig won’t block the pedestal/empty foliage spot. In one case, we were sitting facing one a other. We resolved the issue by hanging a tarp for the duration.
Very quiet at night & close to all kinds of good amenities & outside the park hikes. The Sunday Farmers market was excellent for fresh produce & locally made prepared south american & mexican food. No need to cook on Sundays!
We never managed to snag a washer, but they were coin operated & reasonably priced.
The traffic to and from the beach was a little brutal. If ur at Lovers Key State Park before 11 and leave before 2:30 … u will miss most of it.
An enjoyable visit and if we can snag a site again, we’ll be back

I will say right up front, if you have a large rig be aware some of the sites will be a bear to back in to and once you have tamed that beast, getting set up could be somewhat trying, given unlevel sites, sandy pads and trees limbs and tree roots encroaching on your site. I will say right up front, if you have a large rig be aware some of the sites will be a bear to back in to and once you have tamed that beast, getting set up could be somewhat trying, given unlevel sites, sandy pads and trees limbs and tree roots encroaching on your site. Having said all of that, I would camp here again in a heartbeat.
We had the feeling of being camped out in the middle of a jungle, which proved to be super relaxing and quiet, not to mention providing us with constant shade during the heat and humidity of June. The park itself is quite unique with it being the former settlement of the Koreshans. It is definitely worthwhile to take a couple of hours while here to check out the settlement, which has been beautifully preserved. Take the time to sit and watch the free video which provides a brief history of the founders and the settlement itself.
There are a couple of hiking trails here, though nothing spectacular. We found the river trail to be worth the effort. In addition, there is a kayak/canoe launch here which we took advantage of with our inflatable kayak and enjoyed a truly peaceful and relaxing paddle up and back the Estero River. They also have canoe and kayak rentals at the park. The shower and bath houses are somewhat dated, but the staff does a good job in keeping them clean. Although the park sits right next to a very busy highway, we found road noise to be mostly a non-factor.
We also made good use of this park's location. We made day trips to the beaches at Ft. Myers, Bonita Springs, Lover's Key and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, all within a short drive to the campground. There is also a great deal of shopping and restaurants in the immediate area. Ft. Myers, Naples and Sanibel Island, to just name a few, are all great day trips which are a fairly short drive from the Park as well.
Our camp site (#30) was very tight to get into with our 35 ft. fifth wheel and long bed, crew cab pickup. The interior roads are also somewhat narrow with fairly sharp curves. However, with a little patience we made it around and into our site fairly easily. You have to watch for tree (mostly palmetto) limbs both on the sides and above your rig. I wouldn't recommend site 30 as it not only is difficult to maneuver into, but there is a huge hump of tree roots running right through the middle of it. It made leveling quite a process. I would urge care and research while choosing a campsite here. While it could be dicey, it seemed most of the sites are doable with the proper care.
Given its serenity, unique setting and plethora of things to do, I would most definitely stay here again. We stayed 8 days and would have easily enjoyed a few more days, but since there are no sewer hookups, it was getting to be time to dump the tanks. Driving to the dump station and then returning to maneuver back into our site was not an appealing option.

I took a quick trip to Sanibel Island with my kids for the weekend. After spending the day at the beach we went to Koreshan SP for the rest of the day and night.
Upon arrival to the ranger station we were greeted by a friendly and helpful ranger. This was our first stay in a state park. I had lots of questions and the ranger took his time to answer them all. I ended up going inside the ranger station to purchase firewood ($7/bundle). They ranger station also had a few items to purchase like stickers and magnets.
We dumped before heading to our site. There are two dump stations in a line. If there are two rigs dumping and one waiting to dump it stops the entire flow of traffic on that loop. This is the only negative thing I found with this park.
After dumping we went to our site just round the bend from the dump station. The site a very secluded and had lots of privacy with the foliage. We have a 33 foot class c and had plenty of room in the front for my brother’s 2500 truck. At the back of the site there was a separate area with a fire pit. This was perfect for s’mores.
The park has plenty of things to do. We were at the playground most of the time. We also took hikes on the trails ending up in the historic area. Unfortunately the historical houses were closed due to Covid but we still enjoyed the hike and looking inside the home through the windows. The hike also takes you through a large bamboo garden that is awesome. Specially if it’s a bit windy. You’ll be able to hear the bamboo concert as they dance in the wind.
The park also offers kayak rentals. We did not use kayaks during this stay. Definitely going back again and try out the kayaks. The site was well maintained. We were next to the camp host. He was also very friendly and helpful. The bathroom near the playground was very clean. The facilities are a bit dated but kept in excellent shape. We did not use or see the bath house. Being close to the playground we did hear children and families in the area but everyone was respectful of quiet hours and of campsites.
As our first experience in a Florida State Park we had an excellent time. Koreshan State Park set the bar really high for other state parks.

The trail to the bath house goes right by. Dog barked every two seconds and there was zero privacy most of the time. Tons of road noise for a state park.

The campground roads are almost overgrown, Class A's would really need to thread the needle; some did though. Campsites are mostly level, but sand. They're looked after after each camper leaves. The most evident wild life are rabbits and Prarie Tortoises. "Facilities" are "open air" so on cool mornings showers are a bit bracing. The bath house is in the middle of the campground to which there are little trails from most sites. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. One gripe, at the dump station, the rinse hoses have the male end removed so we could not connect without getting out our own hose. Due to CV-19, canoes and kyaks are not being rented, but the Estero River is a popular draw, just BYO.

Personally I prefer campgrounds with less trees and plants but for those that do like privacy, the sites at this campground do offer that. The pads are packed sand and mine was very close to level. The toilets/shower were located in a central location in the center of the loop and I had to navigate a little trail from my site to get to the main sidewalk that led to the restrooms. The restrooms are really old but they were kept clean. I tried to get in to use the shower, but there is a keypad that I couldn't get open. Supposedly, you were supposed to enter the gate code. That didn't work for me. I was smelling fresh so I decided I really didn't need a shower so, I didn't pursue the issue. I loved the close proximity to Estero and all of the access to "everything" and that be enough of a plus to give Koreshan a 5 star rating. On the way out, I dumped. There are 2 dump connections. Today, they were a little slow draining.
