Arrived on a Wednesday and paid for 3 nights. At the time I arrived, there was a reserved posting on the site I selected for labor day weekend which was 2 weeks away. After padding for 6 hours on Thursday, I returned to my campsite and another camper informed me that he and his friends and reserved 3 sites for the weekend, including the site I was in. While I was gone, someone had added their reservation (which was obviously made after I arrived) to the site post. Obviously the local forest service staff does not bother removing the paid-for sites from the online inventory, so someone else can come in the middle of your stay and evict you.
Otherwise, it's a good campground. I was hoping to kayak the Mississippi downstream from the campground, but found out that the current was too strong to do a round trip, so I just paddled Cass Lake. Novice paddlers should be warned that the lake can get very choppy and "squirrely" with the slightest winds, probably because of the river current. I had paddled from the campground to Schram Lake and was planning to paddle over to O'Neils Point before returning, but had to cut short about 100 yards from the point because of waves hitting from all directions. Max wind gusts were only about 15 mph.
$8 with America the Beautiful senior pass.

Great small campground that sees very little use. Total of 14 spots. We choose #1so we could charge our solar each day. Small fishing dock, outhouse and a central water faucet. Camphost is super friendly, Multiple Bald Eagle sightings while we were there. $8 with America the Beautiful Pass

A great - small - campground right on the beginnings of the Mississippi River. Numerous shade it sunny spots with water and bathrooms in the center of the campground. Great fishing right off the docks
Van-Tramp would stay here again
