Drove to the campground since first come no reserve basis and front gate is closed no explanation. Looks like maintenance maybe? Love this park and was sad. Put us in a pickle to find another campground but was able to get in Saltwater Creek Rec Area.

Saturday and Sunday nights in mid-August so not a lot of camping options. This camp doesn't take reservations but works on "first come, first served." Excellent, just what we need. Arrived around noon so plenty of options to choose from. Picked a nice site with the river behind us (forgotten the number as it was 3 days ago) and spen... more

Klahowya Campground, Clallam County, WA. Klahowya (a common word for "welcome" in the Chinook jargon) is unique among the campgrounds on the Olympic Peninsula because it is not part of the National Park System, but part of the friendlier and less restrictive US Forest Service.
