“Great spot for a free overnight”

This is a cute rest area/campground that is FREE (donations accepted). It is a little difficult determining where to park if you are an motor home towing an RV, but we found a path that indicated where we should park. Our site had a nice new picnic table and shelter.

Verizon worked well. We got 4 over the air TV stations. We heard an occasional airplane, but nothing major.

At the time of our stay (Sept 25, 2016), the road that is rest area is on is totally tore up. You are driving on dirt to get to and from the rest area. Hopefully they will be done soon.

If you need to stay somewhere for a night and dry camping isn't an issue, this place works. They will let you stay up to 14 days.

“Great free spot - donations welcome”

Reviewed Jul 14, 2016

Overall Rating

This is a great little rest area with several spots for tent or RV camping. It is sandwiched between a road and an airport but was surprisingly quiet - the airport is a small local one and we saw no planes while there, and the road is quiet at night.

There is a lot of space here - there were maybe 7 RVs and a few tent campers when we were there and still a lot of room. There are some fairly established, flat gravelly areas perfect for RVs, and a lot of grass for tents.

There are flush toilets and water spigots, as well as numerous picnic benches.

It was very clean and everyone we spoke to was very nice.

Lewistown is just down the road and has shops, a movie theatre, bars, and an Albertson's grocery store.

This site is maintained by a charity and they have a box for donations - we made a donation because we felt it was a really nicely maintained site - a lot nicer than a lot of private parks we've paid for!
