This high elevation site @ 7400ft is nice and cool. There is some shade in certain spots. Didn’t need shade as it was cool on August 8th. There is water here too. The USDA Forest Service site is incorrect. Excellent location if you need solar power and starlink open skies. Give it a try
Driftless Wanderer would stay here again

No shade, burned trees, one tent here maybe a fire crew person? Fires nearby but no smoke here

This camp was closed last year while the forest service removed a lot of the dead trees in the area. Camp is still a mess with lots of branches and stumps everywhere, burn piles in the middle of camp. No host on site. Weeds growing up on the parking pads and around the tables and fire rings. Even on a busy weekend while the nicer, shady camps in the area are full this place was deserted. Most sites are on the small side, most are back in. The area is pretty steep so there are stairs leading to/from the parking pads to the area with the tables and fire rings. Not ideal for anyone with any mobility issues.
