“Rare, free, RV accessible camp near Killarney PP, cell nearby, beautiful and private but bugs and litter”

Large open gravel area surrounded by trees with excellent accessibility for any size rig. Located 15 km east of George Lake Campground but outside of Killarney Provincial Park boundary with absolutely no signage whatsoever. The spot is far enough off hwy 637 that the traffic noise is minimal. I stayed 3 nights in July and not a single other person came while I was there. The bugs were significant including mosquitoes, deer flies and horse flies. Unfortunately, we could not get any working cell signal at this camp even with a booster, however there is some signal at George Lake campground and excellent signal and download speeds in the town of Killarney, 25 kms west. Be sure to visit Herbert's Fish and Chips while you are in the town of Killarney for some excellent fresh fish. Also gasoline and limited groceries are available in town at Pitfield's General Store.
Excellent amenities in the area in Killarney Provincial Park including hiking trails, lake access points with parking for canoeing/kayaking. There is a sanidump station 1 km east of George Lake campground with fresh water fill as well. The campground also has showers and garbage collection. In summer 2021, day use is free Monday to Thursday, while you can pay a per vehicle fee for day use access on weekends, or buy a season pass for day use at all Ontario Provincial Parks. Whatever you choose, you need to register at George Lake Campground to get a permit to display in your vehicle before accessing any park amenities.
This camping location is clearly used by locals as a shooting hangout as evidenced by large numbers of gunshot shells and litter which I picked up. If you come, please help keep this site clean by packing out your own garbage and picking up some extra litter while you are here. Garbage can be deposited in the campground garbage area or there is a dumpster on the south side of highway 637, 9.5 km east of this campsite (GPS coordinates for garbage dumpster are 46.0962, -81.1145).
This is a rare, free, RV accessible camping location in Ontario adjacent to a popular provincial park whose campground is almost always full in summer. Let's put the local shooters to shame by taking better care of this special spot than they do, so we can all continue to enjoy it for years to come! Thank you for your help!
