Keithsburg Riverside Campground

This is a city run campground on the banks of the Mississippi River, and we spent one night there in July, 2020 as we traveled the Great River Road. The camp host is situated at the north end of the park, so if you come in following the signs, you have to drive through the campground in order to register. The host was very helpful. However, there is much to be desired.

The sites are concrete, and fairly level, with gravel roadways and vehicle parking. There is a picnic table at each site. We wanted site 8 on the waterfront, but the post had an open ground. The host showed us site 21 on the other side of the driveway, but that box had reverse polarity. However, the other box for site 22 on the same post was okay, so she said we could use it as 22 was still flooded. Clearly, they need a real electrician to rework their electrical system.

Quiet hours at this campground start at midnight on Friday and Saturday, so it's wise to park away from the beach if you want to sleep or close to it if you want to party. We paid $17 for our electric only site; they only take cash or check, and there are no discounts. We did not go in to the restrooms, so nothing to report there.

If you need a base for fishing, this might be a good choice, as there are launch ramps adjacent. Otherwise, I'd give this one a pass.

It's nice to be on the river but there is no sewer and they don't keep it maintained well we end up having to mow or weed eat our on sites and pay $450 a month for just doesn't seem right.
