This is a jungle campground that borders the beach. Sites are very private due to the jungle growth between them. The bath houses needed cleaning; they bordered on disgusting ---- but that was the only negative. You can ride your bike forever on the hardpacked beach --- it is windy though, so head into the wind on the way out and get a easy wind aided ride on the way back. The beach is clean and wide and great for all beach activities - fishing, boarding, building sand castles. The town directly around the park is ugly -- don't plan on going there, but there are really beautiful neighborhoods just south.

This is an ambitious recreational resource for a community, but is definitely not a five star effort. Town is a ways off, but worth a visit, especially the museum. The oldest, first-to-break-prohibition bar, is a smoke filled pool hall, and there are lots of much better options for lunch or dinner close by.

The park is a city run facility. Well maintained and great location on the ocean. You don’t feel like you’re in a metropolitan area. The feel is more of remote jungle. Lot’s of amenities for the family activities. On site camp store, play grounds, rentals (kayaks, bikes, canoes, games, etc..), fishing, laundry, and services ( bike repair and ADA kayaking). Hiking and biking trails. Bike trails for beginners to challenging terrain.
However, do to the jungle vibe the sites can be tight for rigs over 30’. Some sites are semi private, most are not. If you want peace and quiet choose a site away from intersections and common areas. Otherwise you will have traffic and children noise.
Pros are full hookups, price, location, cell reception (T-mobile) 2 bars minimum and consistent.
Cons are tight maneuvering, snug sites, unique sewer connection, close neighbors (not all), and do to site layout you may need extra long power, water and sewer connections.
We would stay here again, now that we have recon’d the sites and found ones that suit our needs. Recommend that you reserve a space at least 5’ larger than you have.

Arrived on Saturday afternoon with no line to checkin. The park has several playgrounds and it's great for families and kids, with nice trails, a pretty lake, and a nice beach but it's not necessarily a peaceful getaway if that's what you're looking for. The camp store also has all the basics. As others have mentioned, the roads are a little tight for driving and for parking, both because of the tress and because of where cars are parked near the campsites. We managed fine in our 29 foot Class A though. Our site (119 in Row H) was marked semi-private and that was an accurate description. Most sites are pretty close, and in our case, the greenery partially blocked our view of the neighbors. The sites definitely vary and looking through them online isn't the easiest, but I still recommend taking some time to do it.
Personally, we prefer a park that's a little quieter and less busy. This place is quieter during the week but as you approach the weekends it gets pretty busy. People are always walking and biking along the same narrow roads where RVs and vehicles are constantly coming in and out throughout the day. The helicopters didn't bother us but I could see how if you were hanging out at the beach all day, they might get old.
Cell service for AT&T and Verizon were both good and my husband and I used our phones for working (including zoom and without a booster) throughout the weekdays.

We had a great time here but if you are looking for a more secluded not so busy campground this may not be the ideal place. Many sites are close but many are not. All the loops lead to a central main drag which is understandably busy.
But despite the activity and close quarters, it is totally worth it. Since this campground has been extensively reviewed, I'll just mention a few things that stood out in particular...
- The sewer hookup at each site comes out with an elbow making the connection parallel to the ground. Come prepared with a secure screw-in bayonet for a leak-proof connection.
- Traffic! I was fortunate by arriving midafternoon on Thursday. The weekend and several days during the week the backup to get into the park was insane. After 7 PM or so with only one gate attendant, late check-ins, and people returning to the campground, it took us 20 minutes of waiting in line at one point.
- Very cool hiking and biking trails wind all through the park. Use them! Biking trails E and S are great. I didn't get a chance to try Z.
- The beach allows dogs and bikes. Their dog policy is very generous and people seemed really good about managing their dogs and picking up after them.
- Excellent 5G tower just north of the campground. Sites on the northern side of the campground have the best access to the tower.
- Rocket launch! I got up early on March 14th and with absolute clarity from the beach saw the entire 1st stage burn, separation, and 2nd stage burn of a Falcon rocket lifting a new set of Starlink satellites into orbit. Amazing!
- Site recommendations: it seemed like the sites closer to the lake at the end of rows C, D, E, F, and G were very nice, roomy, and a bit less busy. One really nice site was #4 pretty much in the NE corner all by itself. If you want easy access to the lake, then the sites at the end of rows I, J, K, L work great. Also note that the one side of rows B, C, E, F, H, I, and L have no one behind you (heavy trees or natural ditches). There are sites on the south side that are perfectly nice as well, but bigger rigs seemed to be on the north side.

We are 33 ft 5th wheel and we’re okay, but it was a bit tight in some places, so be aware. Lots of local weekend campers here; it was half empty during the week. Verizon was good; strong enough for zoom calls, streaming, etc.
We were at site 55 and wouldn’t stay in that site again as it felt like sharing a site with our neighbors on the one side (although the other side provided privacy) . There are A LOT of great “private” sites so read the descriptions carefully- it says if the site is private or semi-private. Overall, we’d love to come back here in the future!

Most sites look pretty level (sand) but some are ONLY suitable fir a tent. To a certain degree, it might be worth the challenge of navigating the roads. Ours is a 33’ 5er. A bit of aircraft noise since it is close to a Naval Air Station, but kids can enjoy seeing jets and choppers! Lots to do here!

So before I forget, we stayed in site 184, it is marked as up to 40 feet rig but it probably could accommodate bigger since we could drop our patio down (we have a toy hauler) and park the truck in front of our rig. If you look at the map, site 184 looks like it is straight but it is on an angle. We came in from the main road and turned left into that section and had to go all the way around because we were on the wrong angle to back into it but they don't tell you that on the map. We don't know about the other sites but we had full hook ups that worked well.
The main road into the campground is fine but the roads into the sections are really tight and some campers that are already there park their cars slightly in the road which makes it even tighter. We had no issues with low tree limbs but some of the neighboring sites had lower branches that showed signs that RVs had backed into them. There is trail system in the park that is easy to get to and is amazing for walking, biking, running. Dogs are allowed on the trails and on the beach but they have to be on leash.
There is also a really beautiful lake for kayaking but no swimming since there are alligators, lots of beautiful birds nesting. We were lucky enough to arrive on a Saturday (and it was pretty busy) but by Monday morning it was pretty quiet. Book early!!

After the rain, the place was muddy but that’s part of camping😀. Easy walk or bike to the beach and also plenty of parking if you want to bring chairs, cooler, etc. In late Feb, the beach was uncrowded even on a 75° Saturday. It was wide and clean with some nice little beginner waves.
