The area is beautiful and there are decent hikes. I was able to bike a bit.
There was no cell service, so in order to do some work, we had to exit the park for while.

We were fortunate to visit just days before campground was shut down due to Covid. Surrounding scenery is amazing.

Cheap, dry camping in one of the most beautiful national parks. We've booked this site 2 years in a row. It's nice with the rocks behind for kids & climbing, and not too close to other sites. No services or cell service, but we are usually dry camping in CA.

Able to back our 25' right into a spot and had the entire space to ourselves (119 was empty as well). Pit toilets were clean no issues to report, didn't light a fire but we were only there for a night. Beautiful location, had a VERY bright moon (hoping for a full moon for star gazing, but our fault not the campground). Ranger station was closed when we came in, but we arrived a bit later in the day..
Fun to explore the different boulder areas, my 2 kids (15/17) took time to poke around and stretch the legs which was nice. No hookups but wasn't an issue for the single night we were there. Cell service (T-mobile) was spotty at best.

All sites have a picnic table, fire pit, and BBQ. This campground is the best in the park for a medium sized RV. The price we paid was the senior rate with the federal discount card for those over 62. What a bargain. There is a dump station at the Cottonwood campground, about 30 miles away.

The campsites area bit close to each other, but we didn't feel uncomfortable at all at any point, maybe because our neighbors weren't noisy. Generator hours are 7AM-9AM, 12PM-2PM, 5PM-7PM, this is good from the noise standpoint but can be a pain if you don't have solar and need to charge the batteries to get ready to run the furnace overnight. Overall we liked the CG and would camp here again.

Being able to climb/walk on the rock formations in our site was a complete and wonderful novelty.
The way many of the trailer sites have you sitting on the side of the campground road was a little strange and made us a little nervous our trailer would get bumped by a passing car.
We were here during Spring Break and the campground was very noisy, the sites don’t offer much privacy and you can hear large groups several campsites down.
During the busy season Jumbo Rocks is now reservation only. The drove into the town of Joshua Tree was about an hour and the drive into Twentynine Palms about 30 minutes.

Jumbo Rocks is likely one of the most interesting parts of JTNP, with massive rock formations that describe millions of years of geology - and best of all you get to camp among these rounded giants!
The campground is far larger than you think with even more sites than Black Rock, the road seems to keep going on and on, but the sites themselves are very tight, with most of the RV/Trailer sites parallel to the road. There are a couple of nice and secluded trailer back-in sites, but they are also very tight - we managed to squeeze 28' of Airstream and 16' of Rover into a 25' site without blocking the road, but it took some very tight parking, and we used every available inch of our site.
Jumbo gets extremely busy on the weekend due to the nearby 'attraction' of Skull Rock, and the sheer size of the campground at over 120 sites. But if you can manage to find a nice secluded site it can be very peaceful indeed.
Absolutely no internet access whatsoever in the campground, not even a drop, not even if you scale to the highest rocks in the area! If you drive out to the main park junction just a few minutes to the east you will get some reception.

Loved getting a spot at Jumbo Rocks Campground. The area was beautiful and the site was extremely clean with trash dumpsters located everywhere (while like the convenience of a trash dumpsters, it did take a bit away from the views). There are not a lot of camp sites for larger rigs/5th wheels, so you need to make a reservation. All sites for the RV/5th wheel are essentially parking spots on the side of the campsite road with access to fire pits and grills in sandy spots next to the sites.
Each site had nice areas for grilling and camp fire.
May recommend 80 or 81 campsites.
