Julian Price Park Campground

This is a wooded campground and the sites are pretty small. The pull throughs are really just a pull over. Narrow roads so not big rig friendly. Our pull through site was ok but you have a stone curb between your camper and your picnic area. Not a big deal for some but my husband has mobility issues so it was a little difficult for him to step out of the camper and on to a curb. Obviously no hookups and we got zero cell signal.Showers were in the tent loop but were nice. One thing to note. The entrance is a loop so you can enter from either end. If you enter from the north end, your water fill is going to be PAST the ranger station and you are going to have to exit and loop back around once you get your water. We didn't realize that and turned at the sign for the RV area and missed the water fill. No one was at the ranger station, just a sign that said go to your campsite. The location is what makes this a great place. So close to great hiking and charming towns. I wish we could have stayed longer!

One of the better campgrounds I've stayed at. And at 20 bucks it's really hard to beat, imo. I didn't have any cell service on my AT&T hotspot or my TMobile phone, and didn't have good service on much of the Parkway. This is close to Grandfather Mountain; it might be only a couple of miles, if memory serves.

We didn't think there were showers. We stayed on the F loop which is apparently suited for RVs. Although there are two or three bathroom buildings in the F loop and the loops around the F loop, there are no showers. But there is a single shower house in the tent camping area, which was maybe the C loop. Or B loop? Not sure, but look in the tent camping sites and it is sort of up on a hill just after you enter the tent area.

We would absolutely stay here again. Great place to camp. Lots of trees and space between sites, and there is a gravel path from all campsites to the bathroom building.

This is the first time that we have stayed on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We chose this campground since it was close to the Moses manor where there are a ton of great hikes. We were in loop A which is on one side of the road and there were three other loops on the opposite side of the parkway. Our site was paved and level. we were close to the bath house but it needed some TLC and only contained toilets. The newer bath house across the parkway in loop D had 6 toilet/showers the were clean and the showers hot. Lots of thing to do in the area. As with most National parks there is no power and water at your site. May site rate was the senior rate.

Pros: Great access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Price Lake, and good hiking trails; beautiful rhododendrons everywhere; clean restrooms and clean, hot showers; recycling, trash and dump station were conveniently located; friendly NPS staff; and close to Boone and Blowing Rock.

Cons: The campground is older so the the sites are very small. We stayed in F1, which was nice because it was spaced a little farther from other sites then most. Good shade at a lot of sites, but also not good for solar panels use. We stayed in July so it was humid and busy.

The campground is old and needs a little maintenance, but we loved it. Great views, close to Blowing Rock, Boone, and hundreds of hiking trails.

We originally had reservations for site A14, but was allowed to move to site A32. Loop A is mostly tent sites. A14 is a side-of-the-road, pull thru RV site with very little room between the road and the curb. Lots of shade though. There are three steps leading up to the tent pad and picnic table. It was not ideal for our teardrop camp setup. So, we asked if we could move to A32.

Site A32 is a wide back-in site. It is almost level side to side, but falls a little toward the back. The border curb traps water in the back but not too bad.

We liked A32 best because it was in a meadow, with lots of sun for our solar panels and not too close to any other sites on the sides or behind it. It is a favorite grazing site for deer at sunrise.

Large rigs might have trouble in Loop A, B, C, & D. The roads are narrow and curvy. Beware of edge drop-offs. Some are severe.

Assume no cell service because it is hit or miss. We were able to get text messages and phone calls occasionally but no internet. Sites D7–D13 is the only area we could get usable internet, 2-3 bars LTE on Verizon. I had some success down the road at the picnic area as well. We drove into Blowing rock to get a strong signal.

Lastly, the only showers in loop D are great but you may have to stand in line when the campground is full.

This is a favorite campground for locals and tourists. Beware it gets packed on holiday weekends. We stayed the week before Labor Day and was great until Friday.

We will visit again.

I absolutely loved this park. The advantage of having a small camper is that I could fit in the A area right on the lake. Great location. No cell service, but you could go to the boathouse for wifi. Sites are older, but well spaced. Across the Blue Ridge Parkway the other side of the park has new shower house, and dozens of tent sites. Every campground on the Parkway has Fresh water available for filling up and a dump station. NONE of the parks offer hook ups, but who needs them camping? Don't miss these old style campgrounds with great hiking available out your door. The Lake was fantastic!

Well maintained restrooms dispersed throughout the campground so no matter which site you choose, you don’t have to walk far at all. Several sites are right next to them if that’s what you’d like. I stayed at the site at the furthest point in loop C which is no-generators. Showers are warm and clean. Awesome place. I stayed on a rainy Tuesday night and the place was completely empty except for maybe 2 RVs in loop A. Sprint cell service was spotty at best.
