“Not busy on a Thursday, somewhat breezy, and some poop ”

Reviewed May 17, 2018

I read all of the other reviews and I had some trepidation about staying at this site, since we were driving a 24’ RV. Yes, if you looked for it, you could find some poop and some tissue paper in bushes. If you weren’t looking for it, it wasn’t noticeable at all. I didn’t see any trash to speak of, whatsoever. I am sure that this i... more

Boondocking 4-door sedan w/ Tent set up. Pulled up earlier this week. Was originally me and someone else at the spot then more people came approaching the weekend. A solid spot in the desert. Bumpy road as usual, but if you drive slow it's not that bad. Really close to Joshua Tree town and National Park (like minutes away). Hot as hell... more

Great spot to get away from it all. Joshua Tree NP is only 25 min away not sure were the previous poster was talking 70 min away lol. Can get very windy and if its bad can cause alot of dust in the air. Road is somewhat rough coming in but be patient. I would turn right on Broadway off of Sunfair rd and that will take you directly into... more

I went to Jashua Park but there was a sign that the campgrounds are filled, and It was close to sunset so I decided to go here as I saw good reviews. First of all it is 70 mins from the park so I don't know why ppl call that close. When I got there I had 10 mins before the sun goes down so I had no choice other than to stay. Unless you... more

Access is dirt road not too bad for the first sites which are many. The further down the road the ruttier it gets but if you go slow you will be ok. Not much of a view but what do you want for $0. Good distance between established sites with easy turnaround. Basically its a wide open plain. You wont get locked in. Hard telling ho... more

“Easy campsite off the busy path”

We were doing an overland trip from Big Bear to ocotillo and this was a stop we did in the Jeeps for 1 night of camping! If you have a big rv the flats area is a great spot but there at some good spots for smaller vehicles to get tucked up in. This is BLM land. In the flatter seemingly dried lake bed(correct me if that is wrong) there ... more

We got to Joshua Tree National Park around 8pm on a Tuesday evening in mid-January thinking we’d be able to find a camping spot. The people who think the road was bad maybe haven’t done much boondocking. I can’t know. I arrived at night alone and easily made it to the middle of the playa. Well, my dog was with me. It’s true there are many ruts but they are easy to miss, even in the dark. The road in is washboard but it’s short and not as bad as say Lake Mead. ... more
