Overall Rating
This is a free campground 18 miles and a 1.5 hour drive at 10mph the entire way. The campground has four sites and one working outhouse. Three sites are on the lake with one set back down the hill from the outhouse.
This is a tent only campground due to the road in. It is very narrow, steep, and very rocky in many if not all, areas. It's so narrow that encountering another vehicle requires one of you to back up to a wider area, then moving over as close to the edge as safely as possible to allow the other person to pass.
When we went, there were two families camping there. Mosquitos weren't bad and the sites wide enough for a good sized tent. Each site had a fire ring, but not all sites had a picnic table.

Overall Rating
Josephus Lake is located in Challis National Forest about 20 miles north of highway 21 and probably 40-50 miles northwest of Stanley, Idaho. The road from highway 21 is not paved. The first 10+ miles are a well graded gravel road suitable for travel trailers.
