Jonathan Dickinson State Park Campground

We had a very, positive experience at this campground. Although the campsites are pretty close together, we had suffient privacy to sit outside in the late afternoon.

The bathrooms and showers were conveniently located close by and were very clean. Also, the shower was simple to use, just one lever. Each campaite was clearly marked on the ground which made finding our site really easy.

We'd stay here again.

Arrival - Perfect pre-arrival communication. Arrival registration lanes were plentiful and easy to navigate. Rangers were super friendly, accommodating, and informative.

Tips - The US-1 bridge at Jupiter Beach is out so, be prepared for a detour near Tequesta. If you have littles, try for a lower number campsite in Pine Grove (PG).

Favorites - Site setup, very long and wide with FHU in a state park! Privacy between sites, clotheslines provided, nice utilities, and nice geocaching opportunities within the park. The park is super clean and well maintained with great bathhouses.

Negatives - None that we have encountered; maybe, just maybe a little road noise.

We loved our stay here. It's super close to town and the beach. We camped in Pine Grove campground which had full hookups and are closer to the entrance to the campground. The other campground is at the back of the park where the visitors center, rental equipment, and cabins are located. The campground and bathhouses were well maintained! Laundry was at each bathhouse and cost $2.50 for a load on both the washer and dryer. It rained our entire stay here so we didn't get to get out and do much around the park but they have bike and hiking trails, kayaking, tours along the river, and some other stuff. Being close to the main entrance you did hear some highway traffic if you were outside but honestly it was barely noticeable. Really nice park!

I should first tell y'all, I am partial to Florida State Parks! This one did not disappoint. There is more to do here than we first thought. With 10,000 acres, there are plenty of biking and hiking opportunities, with paved and unpaved trails. We were interested but never got the chance to check out the auto tour (why don't the parks put those audios on an app?). We did make it to the observation tower; it had a great view of the scrub, and you could see the intracoastal and the ocean from the top. We spent some time at two nearby beaches (Blowing Rocks Preserve and Dubois Park ~ great for littles). We also didn't have time to take the boat tour but it's on our list for our next stay as we`ll definitely be back.

We stayed in the Pine Grove campground with full hookup, which was super nice. Our site #27 was large, had lots of privacy with sea grape barriers between us and our neighbors, was fairly level and had plenty of room for both trailer and truck. When we arrived the gravel was neatly raked, free of trash, and the fire pit was cleaned. There was quite a bit of room between our site and our neighbors, which I've tried to show in photos 4 & 5 posted here. Not all sites were as widely spaced but many are. I've read a lot of complaints about road noise, however the high berm behind us kept road noise to nearly zilch.

There was very little shade on this site. We had a small window of time in the late afternoon which allowed us to eat dinner at our picnic table (moved close to our awning). We also had some evening shade near the fire pit from the sea grape bushes. Our early morning was full sun which made packing up on our last day a little warm.

The bathrooms all had concrete sidewalks from the roads from multiple directions, so no worries about sandy feet after your shower. The toilets and showers were well maintained, clean, and had plenty of hot water.

We have Verizon service and had no trouble with calls, data, or streaming while at the campground. Driving around the park had some spotty areas however.

Overall, the campground was quiet, even though it was booked solid. We saw a lot of walkers, and lots of park volunteers were camped there. Everyone was super friendly.
