This is really a hidden gem if you want a mostly Peaceful & Secluded stay. There were Electric Hookup but I didn’t see any water. 1 other group were tent camping and told us they were on the only Elec. pole on the hill that worked. Luckily there was a pole down on the lake front road that worked and that’s were we stayed. Other than the occasional vehicle passing through, it was quiet with a very nice cool breeze off the lake. A wonder sunrise also! We called the police station to see about paying and she told us also to just come by in the morning. No biggie!
My ONLY complaint is when we went to pay the next morning, a different lady from the night before, was EXTREMELY rude and ridiculed us about how we should have paid the night before, even though we were told to just wait. It’s not kept up the best but it’s not terrible.
JP would stay here again

We are here right at the beginning of peak season for the area. It's pretty rainy, maybe that's why no one else is here? It's pretty confusing where the individual campsites begin and end and how to even drive into the spots with electrical. We opted to drive right through the middle to pick a spot that looked like it might be a campsite next to a picnic table. The sites are not level but we were able to get the trailer level with lots of blocks. There's a nice pergola in the middle for large gatherings and a port a potty. A nice looking playground just down the hill. Can't best the price for the area! $5 for primitive spot, $10 for electrical. I think there may be a water spigot somewhere but I haven't seen it yet. Getting here was a bit tricky with google maps. The sign says to pay at city hall or call the police to pay after 1:30. We weren't sure what to expect but the police just told us to pay the next day.
Make sure to put in John Wells Park when doing searches or you might end up driving to a similar named campground in Michigan or on the wrong side of the lake from the campground.
