John Neal Memorial Park & Campground

Sign at the entrance said camp was full, but there were only about four of us in the whole campground so we had the place to ourselves. Many of the spots are right on the river. Nice clean little campground close to the highway. The bathrooms were well taken care of and warm. There are some great little hiking trails adjacent to an estuary. It was a great place to walk the dog and bird watch. The only downside of the whole campground was that the showers were not opened at 9 o’clock as posted. When I went to the camp post his sign said he was unavailable. We chose this campground because it had showers. So that was super disappointing.

This place is gorgeous, situated directly on the river with many riverfront sites (all of which have water hookups, the internal sites share water). The water front sites are quite close together, but it wasn't super crowded in mid April. Cell service was acceptable:

Thev facilities are definitely starting to age and the tables could use replacing, but Tim the camp host works hard to keep the place up and it shows. Plenty of small trails around the beaver ponds for dog walking and close to Stayton for grocery shopping.
