“Awesome place!”

Reviewed May 10, 2018

Overall Rating

We pulled in around noon on a Sunday, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The sites are top notch with covered concrete pads including a grill and fire pit. The bathrooms were very clean. It was very peaceful and scenic. The views are amazing and the sunset coloring the surrounding bluffs was a perfect end to the day.

“Great spot to explore Malpais National Monument, but big dip on short road in”

Reviewed Apr 19, 2018

Overall Rating

This was a nice campground with 11 developed campsites. We came in late, around 8:30 on a Thursday and could not find a site. So we parked at the turnout by the road and waited till morning for it to clear out. Most people seem to only spend the night here, a few weren't going anywhere. As mentioned the road in is a rough half mile wit... more

“Nice spot not too far from the highway”

Reviewed Apr 16, 2018

Great spot. We pulled in for the night off the highway. It was Sunday evening around 5:30 so we expected it would be empty but we grabbed the last spot (what looks like used to be the camp host’s spot). There was no cell coverage at the site but you could climb the hill or walk back toward the road for service. The road in was great, t... more

We're currently camped @ Joe Skeen, our 2nd visit here. The access rd dip may have been improved but still exists & will bother large or low clearance rigs. Have never seen the nearby ranger station open so don't count on them for water. Between sites 2&3 to E there's a rough path that ascends a scree slope to top of a N/S ridge that ... more

Best site I've stayed at in New Mexico so far! Well maintained, clean, well lit, very quite, all the things you want in a campground. It does get crowded pretty quickly on the weekends so make sure to show up early. Campground has pit toilets, fire rings, trash, and picnic tables. Drive in was on gravel but my little Ford Fiesta made i... more

Beautiful location and super clean. Really nice with picnic tables, fore ring and BBQ at every site. The bathrooms were immaculate, so clean and even had hand sanitizer. Very very quite. Road leading into campground is short but very rough. Big dip in the road and lots of potholes.

We really enjoyed staying here! We got here at about 3pm on a Friday and there were already four campers set up. By 7pm all the sites were taken so if you are planning on staying during the weekend, try to get here a bit early. All the sites are clean, there are bathrooms, trash cans, covered picknick tables, and fire rings. The vie... more

“Quiet and Nice ”

Reviewed Feb 28, 2018

This free Campground is so nice! It’s first come first serve. Each site comes with a concrete covered pad with a picnic table and fire pit. We could only fit in 3 sites with our 35ft Airstream. The road to the campground is very bumpy. Overall great spot, and we would return in warmer months!

Sites are well spaced, the campground is clean and trash free. Several campers here each night, even in January. Fantastic sunset views.
