“Great Campground , Quiet And Peaceful By The River ”

We loved our stay here. Two pit toilets and a dumpster. A few other campers only and all were quiet. We got a prime spot right by the river with a nice view of the hills. Moderate drive to dinosaur provincial park (45 min). Highly recommend.

“Sunny, free riverside camp at rodeo grounds in valley with no cell signal”

Reviewed 10/9/2019

Nightly rate: $20
Overall Rating

A 2 km gravel road in good condition leads from the paved main road through cattle grazing lands to a rodeo ground. Located on the Red Deer River, there is a huge open field you can camp in. Additional sites in a treed area would be suitable for small campers or tenters only. There is also an open area by the river.

There are 2 pit toilets as well and the campground is separated from the cattle grazing area by a texas gate (cattle gate).

Rodeo grounds include an outdoor area, pens and some bleachers. There are other fenced buildings adjacent - unsure what they are for.

There is good cell signal on the road in and out of the valley on the high ground but the signal does not reach into the valley where the campground is located. However, it is possible that with a cell booster it might.

This is a remote area. However, there is a convenience store with basic groceries, gas and propane just 10 minutes south in the hamlet of Jenner. Also, it is a 45 minute drive (70km) to Dinosaur Provincial Park.

A beautiful, quiet free camp. I did not stay here - I just stopped in to check it out.
