We booked 4 nights/ 5 days at the Jamestown campground. We chose site J446 based on being full hook up and the location seen from satellite view. Well we got here and J446 is a hill! I don’t think we would have been able to get level in that site. We arrived on a Saturday and contacted the camp office which was open and they allowed us to change our site to J306 which is an awesome site. It’s close to the beach and playground and has a lake view. It’s gravel site with fire pit, table, and full hook ups. The campground was busier on the weekend but during the week it was very peaceful and quiet. Very clean.

Sites in that area were pretty close to each other, but other than that, sites were level back-ins with tables, fire rings and 50A electric. No water at the site, but conveniently located at entrance. Our site was shady with gravel driveway. We had a 50 yard walk to the water where we launched our kayak and set up hammocks for relaxing. Bathrooms had showers and a laundry. Campground is very popular with locals.

We spent two mid-week evenings at Pymatuning State Park (the official name) at its Jamestown, PA facility. There is also a second (east side of lake) campground in PA and an Ohio state park with the same name. We're told the Ohio facility is a bit nicer and just up the road but we did not do any drive through to see if the fellow camper was correct.
There are several tent only sites (mostly clustered together) and several non-electric tent-sized sites immediately adjacent to the lake (sites 222 or 223). We were in site 430, adjacent to the tent only area so it was generally quiet. However, we were close enough to the highway that heavy trucks could be occasionally heard but nothing too distracting. All driveways were gravel, generally well maintained. Bath houses were dated, basic, but not quite up to the standard we were used to so we primarily been accustomed to so we stayed to the Airstream.
A very nice, newer, well maintained playground facility is within walking distance and located on a small part sand, part pebble beach with swimming area. The large swim area about a mile away at Beach 1 is about twice the size. Other beach areas and playgrounds are on the park grounds but we did not use them nor have a basis to review.
The campground only charges $5 for marina access and it looks like if you camped with a fishing boat (20 HP maximum or so allowed on lake only), you could park with the truck and trailer on the premise and keep the boat tied up for convenient walkable access. Adjacent to the campground, a water bird's paradise of shallow inlets and coves were within site and plenty of geese and woodpeckers abounded. Kayak access would also be ideal, but just as an FYI in PA you're required to have a registered kayak/canoe to launch from a state park.
The campground entrance for the Jamestown, PA facility is 41.517624, -80.506636. No issues with cell access. A few family restaurants and supply shops (fire wood, fishing gear, etc.) are within a few miles drive, and a few chain restaurants and Wal-Mart are within 10 miles.
