“Awesome Spots, Small Fish”

Reviewed Apr 30, 2018

Overall Rating

We have been camping here for a number of years! This is close to home for us and a great start to get the cobwebs out of the trailer for our first camping trip of the season. This lake is also known as “Trapper Lake”. The fish are very small but it’s a great start for those with younger kids. There are two recently updated and groomed spots with tables that are good for larger units. There are also about two to three spots down more from the main area but the “road” is heavily grooved and very muddy, but the spots are very private. Perfect for beater units and those with flipped axles. Difficult to turn around though. I would suggest taking a walk first to pick out your spot before you commit!

“Peaceful spot by the lake”

Reviewed Sep 12, 2017

Overall Rating

This spot is about 45 minutes from downtown kelowna. We only had a few other RVers stop by but there were several boaters that stopped to fish. The majority of the time, we had the space to ourselves. There are free roaming cows so don't be alarmed when you see them :)

If the GPS tries to take you up behind the airport and up farmers drive, turn around because it is a very rough road and about a 10% incline. You want to access James lake off highway 33. For the last 8 kilometers, the road is really rough with potholes scattered around. People were surprised our 32' made it there. It took us a long time to get to the lake so big rigs can get there, it will just take you longer.

It was very quiet there and we enjoyed our spot. No cell service. There are probably about 5 camping spots by this lake. Two of them are down a more narrow rough road and secluded.
